To say he say he was astounded, would be an understatement. Shinso was flabbergasted by how you were there, and why you were covered in blood, and why you were in a coffin, and...What was going on!?!
You looked on at the young gentleman with the wildly unkempt violet hair in equal surprise, yet your mind begged you to remember.
When you were young..In the palace..His hair was a dead giveaway for his identity.
"Shinso..?" You asked, almost in a whisper. You were unsure, especially with how long it had been and how many other people were in the palace.
It didn't take long for him to pull himself together and help you out of the coffin.
"(Y/N)?" Now it was his turn to whisper in disbelief. He could hardly believe his eyes. Only moments earlier was he laughing about the people's pathetic devotion to a never returning line of monarchy, and here you were. Injured and blood covered, but alive, and the sole heir to the throne. The irony.
You nodded, slowly taking in your surroundings and the fresh air. It was hard to say since you hadn't been here in so long, but this was definitely your home.
You stepped out of his grasp and walked through the gates and towards the palace. You figured by now that they had just thrown you in a coffin and brought you back here so your ghost wouldn't haunt them or something. You almost cracked a smile. Jokes on them, you'd be here in the flesh to drive them mad.
You heard hasty footsteps behind you and turned around to see Shinso hot on your heels. Well of course this would be confusing to him. Why was he even still here? How was he even still here?
"I just don't understand. Why are you here? Why did they bring you in a coffin? Do you have some sort of necrophilia kink? What is going on?"
You turned around and scoffed at the suggestion of you getting hot and heavy at the thought of dead bodies.
"Yes, because I would come here drenched in blood and looking like shit because I like to do dead bodies." Any ounce of relief you'd had to see a familiar face was now buried by the insult you felt.
The castle looked just as you remembered. Just as you remembered. Not a speck of dust in sight. Someone had been keeping it clean.
You felt a little dizzy but dared to brave the stairs to look around and explore more of your home.
You saw a portrait of your mother and father with a young version of you placed just near the doors of the throne room. The hall was filled with portraits of the many who'd come before you but your family portrait, of course, caught your attention most. There was one of your parents just before they'd had you too. They'd clearly been a very happy couple, because in each picture, they had huge grins on their faces.
It pained you to see the younger version of yourself though. So innocent and happy. She had absolutely no idea what the future held. The pain she'd experience. Just thinking about everything that had happened prior to this day made your head pound. It was funny that Kaeylos was a kingdom of sorcery and yet you felt like a spell was broken now that you were here.
"Hey Shinso...Shins...Shin.." You didn't even know what was happening as you hit the ground and blacked out.
The soft lights were the first thing you'd seen when your eyes finally opened. The Palace may have been tarnished slightly by the Endormian invasion many years ago but it was still one of the most beautiful places to be. The infrastructure was created solely with good planning and the minerals from the land. No sorcery required for it, surprisingly.
You were both surprised and not surprised all at once to see Shinso sitting at your bedside. Your vision cleared and you noticed he'd been holding a gray cat. He was busy buttering up the cat until he heard you shift and then he quickly helped you sit up.
