Ethan lies in the tropical and tundra side of the rainforest. In the tangled depths of his mind, Ethan finds himself in a realm far removed from the tangible world, where the lines between reality and illusion blur. There, in the shadowy recesses of his consciousness, he encounters Evan, a manifestation of his fractured psyche, a mirror of his own tortured self.
Evan's silent gesture points to the encroaching darkness, a foreboding presence threatening to engulf them both. Ethan, perplexed. And anxious, he questions the ominous void before him. "What's in there?" Ethan asks, his voice a mix of curiosity and apprehension.
"You'll see soon, but he's coming back. It's not pretty when he does either," Evan cryptically replies, his attention fixed on the ever-darkening expanse of their shared mindscape.
"Who? Who the hell is coming?" Ethan's confusion grows, the uncertainty gnawing at him.
As the darkness intensifies, a voice echoes through the vastness of Ethan's mind, calling him by his African name, Shimani. The voice grows louder, more insistent, as the darkness spreads like an unstoppable tide through every corner of his consciousness. Evan rises, his movements deliberate, and steps toward the consuming blackness. He pauses at the threshold, turning to lock eyes with Ethan.
"Ethan, you've forgotten who you are. You forgot your history and your royalty. Remember what he did. When Ryder invaded your country, he killed most of your people and your parents, and he stole you from your birthplace. Out of fear, he declared war, with North America backing him, to capture you. I know you remember what happened," Evan implores, his words heavy with unspoken truths and buried memories.
"I don't... I don't remember anything like that at all! If all this is true, then who are you?" Ethan's denial is a fragile barrier against the torrent of revelations Evan brings.
"I'm you, Ethan. I'm you. But I'm also not you. I'm not real, well, not physically. All the experiments and mental torture he put us through as kids split our minds, which created me. Now, it's time to go back. It's time to become one again. His MK Ultra is only strong enough to control one of us, but not both. Walk with me into the abyss, and let us show him what he feared!" Evan's declaration is a call to arms, a plea for unity against the forces that have sought to control and divide Ethan's very essence.
Ethan stands at a crossroads, the darkness before him, Evan's words echoing in his mind. Memories, fragmented and elusive, begin to surface, challenging the chip implanted in his head, the device meant to keep him subdued. As the chip falters, Ethan is abruptly pulled from the recesses of his mind into the stark reality of the night sky above him.
"It just never ends, does it...?" Ethan murmurs, his gaze fixed on the stars, searching for answers in their ageless light.
His contemplation is interrupted by the sound of a plane descending nearby. Dr. Ryder and Mr. L are stark reminders of the ongoing struggle. "Oh, you are still alive after all, quite durable, aren't you, Ethan?" Mr. L remarks, his tone dripping with condescension.
"Stand up! We have to go. You are still useful to us—no point in wasting more time around here. Scarab Six are on their way, and we cannot risk fighting them here before the declaration," Dr. Ryder commands, urgency lacing his words.
"You still hold your fears from them? A group of outcasts? We are untouchable, Ryder. No one on this planet is capable of stopping us. That was the point of this tournament, to draw out the strongest from each country and have them kill each other, weakening the number of powerful enemies we could potentially have," Mr. L responds, his confidence unshaken, a chilling testament to his belief in their invincibility. The stage is set for a showdown of monumental proportions, the fate of individuals and nations hanging precariously in the balance.
