28th October 2019:
"Honey I'm home," Amelie shouts as she walks through the front door to her parent's house. "In the kitchen!" James shouts from the kitchen. Usually, Sarah would be running out of whatever room she was In to welcome her daughter home. Amelie skeptically walks towards the kitchen and hears someone's voice, a woman who doesn't sound like my mum but is really familiar. "Now, before you get mad at me or Mum we didn't know she was popping around. She also wants to speak to you, alone." James steps out of the kitchen once he sees his daughter.
"Who is it?" The brunette stops in her tracks, staring at him. "Lovely to see you, Amelie." Cisca Norris walks up to the doorframe, making James snap his mouth shut. "Hey, Mrs Norris." Amelie awkwardly smiles, rocking back and forth on her feet. "Please, you've known me for years. And you used to call me Cisca all the time. What's changed?" She questions. "We'll leave you two alone." Sarah pats her daughter's ex-boyfriend's mum on the shoulder, before walking away with her husband.
"You wanted to speak to me?" Amelie slowly walks behind Cisca into the kitchen. "Yes, I want you to stay away from my son." The woman straight up says. "I haven't been near your son, intentionally." The brunette scoffs. "He came to the tree house knowing I was there, if I wanted to speak to him I would have just knocked on your door," Amelie tells her. "Hmm, you going to the race in Dhabi?" She asks the nineteen-year-old. "Yeah, supporting my friends." Amelie nod.
"Don't talk, don't interact, don't even look my son's way. You'll put him off and I'm not having you break his heart again. Do you hear me, Amelie?" She crosses her arms. "I'm nineteen years old, Cisca. And as much as I respect you, I can't do that. I'm old enough to make my own decisions, whether they be smart or stupid, but Lando deserves closure. And he will get it when I'm ready to tell him." Amelie tells the woman.
"You have some nerve." The older woman points to the girl. "No, Cisca, you have some nerve. Coming into my home to tell me to stay away from Lando. Guess what, you don't control people. So if I want to go and see Lan, I will. It's not your decision." The brunette scoffs, before spinning around and storming to the back door. "I'm going out!" She shouts to her parents as she walks out of the house.
"What a cunt!" Milly scoffs when Amelie finishes telling her what Cisca said. "I know right, who the fuck does she think she is. Coming into my house demanding that I don't talk to Lando. Like, I know I broke his heart but I still love the boy." Amelie scoffs, not realising what she said. "You still what?" Milly gasps. "Huh?" Amelie turns to look at the blonde. "You said you're still in love with Lando," Mills tells her.
"No, I didn't." Amelie scoffs, going red with the fact that she knows she said that. "What have I said about lying?" The therapist sighs. "Your right, I'm sorry. It's just... It's not that easy." Amelie states. "What isn't that easy Am?" Milly leans back on her sofa. "Loving him, being in his presence. It hurts me too much." Amelie sits down, contemplating if she should tell the woman why she really ran away.
"How is it not that easy? It seems pretty straightforward to me." The eldest shrugs, looking down at her table. "Milly," Amelie says making the blonde look up. "I'm going to tell you something. The reason why I left. And I don't want any pity okay? None whatsoever." Amelie shakes her head. "Okay, I'm listening." The woman claps her hands together.
"In September of two thousand and fifteen, I found something out." Amelie sighs, pausing. "Take your time, don't try and rush it," Milly tells the brunette, grabbing her hand. The nineteen-year-old nods, taking a breath. "I passed out, remember that first day in year eleven?" Amelie asks. "How could I forget, you fell into me and knocked me out." Milly laughs. "Yeah, not my finest moment, I'm still sorry about that." Amelie itches her head.
"But, when the doctors came back to the room I was in after I woke up. They told me I was pregnant." Amelie chokes up on her words, feeling tears prick to her eyes. "Three months exactly, and I was so happy and excited to tell Lando. But then I thought, I can't do this to him. We're sixteen years old. He's going to be one of the greatest Formula One drivers in the world. So when I went home, I didn't tell him. I didn't tell anyone." The girl sniffles.
"Yeah." Milly nodded, standing up to sit beside Amelie, having an idea of where this conversation was going. "Then at the beginning of November, I felt a big pain, in my stomach. Making me cry out in pain. No one was at home when this was happening. I was going to tell Lando on his birthday, but I never got the chance. I had a miscarriage, I lost my four-month-old baby. Another thing to add, I'm fucking infertile now, because of that miscarriage." Amelie looks her best friend in the eyes and breaks down.
"Come here." Milly brings her into a hug, feeling tears brim her own eyes. She didn't know Amelie went through all of this. Let alone all by herself, with no one to help. "And even though we were just in year eleven, we talked about having mini Lando's and Amelie's running around when we were old enough. And I blame myself because I couldn't give that to him. And my one chance at being able to, I fucked it up." Amelie wraps her arms around the blonde.
"My body was too small to carry the baby, so I lost it. It's all my fault, Mill. It's my fault my baby is dead. I couldn't look at Lando and know I was the reason our baby boy was dead." Amelie sobs into the blonde's neck. "Did I mention it was a boy, I would have had a mini Lan." Amelie struggles to breathe. "Shh, it's fine Amelie." Milly rests her head on top of Amelie's, wiping her own tears away. "It's not fine, Mills." Amelie shakes her head.
"Look at me." Milly pushes Amelie back and puts her hands on her face cupping it. "You are so strong, the shit you went through, and carrying it on your own back for four years without you telling anyone. You should have told someone, Amelie. That's a heavy weight to carry these past years." The blonde wipes Amelie's tears. "It was my burden to carry, I didn't want to put that kind of stress on someone else," Amelie says.
"You are too kind for your own likening." The therapist sighs. "That felt good to get off my chest." Amelie nods, getting her cup of water from the table, and downing it. "I'm glad you told me..." Milly starts. "No, no buts. I am not telling Lando, he doesn't deserve that pain." Amelie shakes her head. "He deserves to know, you tell him when you're ready. But you have to tell him, before the end of the year. Or you're never going to tell him." Milly tells her.
"You're right." Amelie nods slowly. "I'm always right, what are you on about." Milly scoffs. "Thank you for letting me tell you about this." Amelie smiles. "Hey, we have been best friends since we were three, I'm not letting you walk through life on your own. I'm always here when you need to talk." The twenty-year-old laughs. "Thank you." Amelie smiles, wrapping her arms around Milly.
