My alarm on my phone screeched in my ear. Oh great, it's my first day of school. I rolled over and groaned.

As if on cue, Dad was at my door, "Get up, baby! It's your first day at Johnson County High School!"

I rolled my eyes, "I'm up!", I swear he's more excited than I am. Johnson High- I sighed. When we first got here, Dad was talking about throwing us in some prissy private school, most likely full of white kids, no offense. After some negotiating and some research, we all agreed that Johnson County was a good compromise: plenty of sports and activities, good test scores, not too prissy, and not too ghetto.

I grabbed my things to go shower. On my way to the bathroom I decided to stop by Trinity's room. Dad might have thought he woke her up, but I know better. I peek in and sure enough she was fast asleep.

"Trinity Kara Sanders, get your butt up!"

She groaned and rolled over.

"Little girl, I'm going to go shower and get dressed. By the time I get out and get dressed, you better be ready for me to do your hair. I'm not playing!", I said as I eyed her.

She finally through her covers on the floor and rolled her eyes. Lord, she acts so much like me it's scary. I just laugh and go to get ready.

An hour later, I'm finally dressed. I decided on a black and white striped peplum shirt, white jeans, and gold sandals and earings. My hair was currently dip dyed blue on the ends. I through some wand curls in it and applied some lip gloss. I looked pretty good. I smiled at myself and called the morning diva, "Trinity bring your behind and your ribbons in here!"

She stomped into my room wearing pink acid washed jeans, a grey high-low shirt, and some gray converse. I brushed her hair into 2 pigtails and added some pink ribbons.

"Aw don't you look pretty", I cooed.

She rolled her eyes, "Can we go to Mcdonalds on the way there?"

"No, because people don't know when to wake up. Go get a cereal bar or something. We're leaving in 5 minutes."

She huffed and stomped out. Chase walked in and sat on my bed.

"You ready, sis?"

I sighed as I checked myself in the mirror, "As ready as I'll ever be. I don't know anybody down here, Chase. We're starting over."

He jumped off the bed and walked toward the door, "Well is that such a bad thing? And I know a few dudes. You'll be fine. Let's go."

Chase will be playing chauffeur until my dad decides that I can have my own car. We dropped Trinity off at the elementary school and off we went.

Once we got to the school, we made our way to the office. I looked around. The school was pretty big and well.... nice. Some people stopped and stared at us through the office window.

"Sanders?", a short, plump black woman asked that sat behind the desk. We both nodded. She handed us our schedules and off we went. I looked over it.

I peeked at Chase's schedule. He was a senior this year, so the only thing we had in common was the B lunch shift.

We were walking beside each other, trying to find a couple of our classes before the bell rang.

"Chase! Wassup nigga?", someone called from across the hall.

There was a group of boys standing against the lockers.
