tw. a bit of angst but i know we all love it so why not

in the dimly lit, cluttered living room, chan sat amidst a sea of empty cans and an overflowing ashtray, his life a chaotic reflection of his surroundings. his eyes were glazed over, and the weight of his own mess seemed to press down on him like a leaden cloud. ge knew he was no good for anyone, especially not for felix.

felix, on the other hand, sat beside chan with a warm smile that seemed to radiate light in the darkness. he loved chan with a fierce devotion that defied reason. chan had often told him that he wasn't worth the trouble, but felix didn't care. to him, chan was worth every sacrifice.

their love story had begun when felix was still the innocent, sweet boy everyone adored. he had a close-knit circle of friends and was deeply connected to his parents. but when felix met Chan, something shifted in the universe, and the once-bright path he was on took an unexpected turn.

chan was a high school dropout, drifting through life aimlessly, and his days were spent drowning his troubles in alcohol. he had no job, no direction, and no future to speak of. he was a mess in every sense of the word.

yet, felix chose him. he chose chan over his friends, who couldn't understand what he saw in him. he chose chan over his own family, who worried endlessly about their once-promising son. felix's love for chan transcended logic; it was a force of nature, an unbreakable bond that refused to yield.

as chan sat in the midst of his mess, he turned to felix, his eyes filled with guilt and remorse. "felix, i don't deserve you," he mumbled, his voice heavy with self-disgust.

felix gently cupped Chan's face, his eyes locked onto chan's. "you're worth more than you think," he whispered, his smile unwavering. "and no matter how tough things get, i'm not letting you go. we'll find a way, together."

chan shook his head, a deep frown etched onto his face as he looked towards felix. "lix, you've lost everything because of me. i mean, look at you," he said, his voice tinged with regret.

felix met chan's gaze, his expression unwavering. "what do you mean, look at me?" he replied, a trace of frustration in his voice.

chan sighed and gestured around the messy room. "look at us," he said, the weight of their situation heavy on his shoulders.

rolling his eyes, felix retorted, "we're not doing this again, chan. we have this conversation every damn week. i'm not leaving you, and besides, i have no one else to go to anyway."

chan let out a bitter laugh, his eyes narrowing. "oh really? don't think i don't see your parents, your siblings, and even your friends messaging you every single day, checking on you and telling you to come back. felix, you excelled in school, you have amazing parents, and a future ahead of you. i don't want you to waste it on me."

the room fell into a heavy silence as they both grappled with the magnitude of their choices. chan's heart ached as he saw the conflict in felix's eyes, the struggle between his love for chan and the life he had left behind.

finally, breaking the silence, felix whispered, "but i don't want that. i want you. i see my future, and it's with you."

chan sighed heavily and slowly stood up, causing felix to look up at him with concern. "where are you going?" felix asked, his voice filled with worry.

chan motioned for felix to follow him, and they walked together toward a familiar field. it was the place where their paths had first crossed, where felix had been a different person, unburdened by the chaos that now surrounded them. felix couldn't hide his confusion, and he questioned, "why are we here?"

chan turned to face felix, a soft smile playing on his lips. "remember when we first met here, the boy you were?" he asked, and felix nodded hesitantly. "what's that got to do with anything?" felix replied, growing increasingly frustrated.

taking felix's hands into his own and locking eyes with him, chan spoke with sincerity, "that was the felix i fell in love with. i was stupid for doing so because i've ruined you. i'm not good for you, felix. i really, truly am not. if i had known i was going to change you the way i did, i would have walked away. but i didn't. i just kept on being with you, and by the time i realised how much you had changed, it was too late. i just kept letting myself destroy you."

felix attempted to speak, but chan gently cut him off. "let me speak," he said, and felix reluctantly fell silent.

"i love you, lix. i really do," chan continued, his voice filled with genuine emotion. "and because i love you so much, i need to do this." he pulled felix into a tight hug, and for a moment, felix thought everything might be okay.

but then chan whispered, "when i pull out of this hug, i want you to go. go and don't look back."

felix's heart sank, and he began to plead with chan not to do this, his voice filled with desperation. but chan, his eyes filled with tears, held firm. he knew that this was the only way to truly protect the person he loved, even if it meant letting him go.

with a heavy heart, chan pulled away from the embrace, tears streaming down his face. felix's pleas continued, but chan's resolve remained unshaken. he whispered one final time, "i love you, felix. now, go. i need to work on myself, and if we are meant to be. the universe will bring us back together again" and with that, felix turned away, his footsteps carrying him further from the field and from the love he had cherished so deeply.

as felix walked away from that field, his heart heavy with sorrow, he couldn't stop the tears from streaming down his face. his steps were slow and unsteady, mirroring the turmoil inside him. he pulled out his phone, trembling fingers dialing his mother's number.

the phone rang, and felix's heart pounded in his chest. when his mother's voice finally came through, it was filled with a mix of shock and disbelief. "lix? is this really you?" she asked, her voice quivering.

felix, his own voice shaky and choked with sobs, managed to reply, "mum, i want to come home."

his mother's relief was palpable through the phone as she burst into tears. "it's all going to be okay, baby," she reassured him, her voice soothing. "come home, and we'll take care of you. we've missed you so much."

felix nodded, even though his mother couldn't see him. it was the promise of a loving, supportive home that had been missing from his life for far too long. as he continued to walk away, his steps now carrying a glimmer of hope. hope that what chan had said is true. that the universe will bring them back together again someday.

because no one was ever going to love chan the way felix loved him. and felix was never going to love anyone the way he loved chan.

just like how chan would never love anyone the way he loved felix.
