" I get caught up, just for a minute."
The teams pounding on the door left you and Emily undisturbed, still peacefully sleeping. Emily only sprung up when the door swung open and Luke came sauntering in, JJ and Reid lingering in the doorway behind. She tossed the blanket off her, untangling her arms from your body upon realizing the awkward position she had ended up in, with one hand draped over your waist and the other pressed against your back. Luke chuckled as you awoke groggily, your skin was still warm from the heat of falling asleep pressed against Emily. "Sleep well?" He teased.
"God, don't you know how to knock Alvez? How did you even get in?" She groaned and complained while scrambling out of bed.
"I did knock, relentlessly." Holding up a room key he tossed it on her nightstand. " Neither of you answered so I had to go down to the desk and ask for a key. Now hurry up or you're going to be late. We'll grab you both coffees at the station."
Both of you ran around the small room getting ready and left the room at different times without speaking. You didn't see Emily again until an hour later when she joined you and JJ chatting in the back of the police station. Frowning, she pointed over her shoulder. " What happened to all the journalists and camera crew out front?"
"Oh y/n came up with a brilliant plan to keep them away." JJ looked up from the files in front of her quickly, waving her hand as she spoke. " As she pointed out this is a small connected town, so I let her make a statement that if they really want to help us with the case they should spread out and talk to their connections, but not interfere if they find anything. Now we have them all away and more possible sources of information."
Emily remained quiet, working with pursed lips. JJ looked up at you when Emily mumbled from across the room. " That doesn't sound like remaining uninvolved to me." JJ shook her head towards you in response, blonde hair falling off her shoulders. "Ignore her," she mouthed before quickly turning her attention back to the case file when Emily looked up.
You were fairly certain Emily was pissed when an hour later, the case was closed thanks to a connection the police department received from your plan. You were on your way back to Quantico before eleven, most of the team was quiet with relief. Tara and JJ were whispering while making coffee, Spencer had a book open in front of him and a stack of two more beside him. Rossi was content looking out the window, and Luke already had headphones on. You could only see the top of Emily's head over the row of seats. She had settled in the very corner seat, blocked in by seats on three sides. She only looked up to join the conversation when Tara said her name for the second time, pulling her out of her head. " Night out? Everybody is free tonight."She crossed her fingers visibly in front of her in an
attempt to get Emily to join them."Maybe, it depends on how much paperwork we have left when we get back." She mumbled, putting in earbuds. The whole plane groaned, and you caught a small smirk on her face when they did. She rested her head against the window, zoning back out. Back at the office, the team slowly plowed through paperwork, gossiping as they worked. You headed towards Penelope's office finding comfort in her dim and heavily decorated office, along with her steady stream of chatter. She froze mid sentence, as a growing rumbling of noise from outside stole her attention. Both of you scrambled up and out into the bullpen to find everyone had collectively discarded their work, packing their bags and wrapping jackets around their shoulders.
They had all gathered at the bottom of the stairs leading up to Emily's office once they had convinced her into joining them for drinks. An excited chatter had started as everyone prepared to leave together, and made plans to cram into each other's cars. You were invited to join in JJ's car, along with Tara and Luke.
