CW: Bit of language & violence surrounding the case, alcohol, that's about it.
" I wanna take you somewhere so you know I care.
But it's so cold, I don't know where."Pulling your hair up off your neck, you tilted your head so JJ could zip the back of your top. Standing up, it took a second for you to find your balance in boots that reached your thighs. The blonde popped her lips with a small smirk as you smoothed down the tight fabric, too polite to do anything else. " I assume you know what you're doing?" She asked, though expressed her full confidence in you, unlike other members of the BAU. Brushing your hair out of the way, she clipped an earpiece in, and combed your hair to conceal it.
You nodded, thanking her with a shaky breath. Your situation was just starting to set in. You'd have to hide it the second Emily spotted you. She'd pull you out in a flash if she spotted the briefest flash of nerves on your expression. JJ smiled, leading you out the door and handing you the keys to one of their black SUV's. " Remember to park out back, good luck! She slammed the passengers side door shut as she turned the keys, and waved through the tinted windows before you sped away.
Two girls let you slip in the backdoor, aware and onboard with the plan as soon as Emily had whipped out her badge. You lingered in the hallway of the club, separating the pulsing crowd from the quiet and dim dressing rooms. You remained unoccupied and hopefully looking uninterested, in hopes that you could weed out the men bold enough to approach you rather than shout obscene things up towards a stage. One man caught your attention, his eyes remained fixed on you- even in the dark hallway- long enough for you to catch his gaze.
Pushing yourself off the wall you had been leaning against, you dropped your arms to your side, the slightest invitation as you inched forward. He accepted the bait instantly, approaching you with an ego so big you could almost see it trailing behind him. " I haven't seen you out here tonight," he pointed out ever so observantly while swirling his drink around.
" No you haven't, did you want to?" You smiled with a familiar head tile you used to use all the time. Raising an eyebrow you had him stuttering out an answer, unable to maintain his " always keep a woman hanging on your next words" act you had seen a few too many times.
" I have to say I did. Well if you're not busy, can I buy you a drink darling?"Emily's scoff vibrated in your ears and you pursed your lips, attempting to remain focused. She was so sure you were gonna mess this up and the blame would be on you, yet it was her that was distracting you from your task. With a small pout, you rejected him, brushing past him. " Sorry, I'm still on the job."
He grabbed at your wrist and you pivoted around on your heel with the yank, raising a questioning eyebrow. " How about we just go outside for a smoke, just five minutes of your time I promise." You held your breath as he slid his hand down your lower back, nudging you toward the back door, with Emily in your ear urging you to get him out of the building. With a tight smile and a nod, you agreed, allowing him to lead you out in the empty parking lot in the back. The man handed you a cigarette and you accepted, secretly hoping he hadn't poisoned it. You tried to vaguely remember what Emily had said while you had been tuning out and you were daily certain poison cigarettes were not his method of choice. Speaking of the devil, Emily's voice hissed in your earpiece again, reminding you that she was analyzing every move you made. " Don't smoke that," she commanded and you could tell she was gritting her teeth.
You were the one who said I had to play the part completely in the first place, you muttered in your head, fearing the man would consider you insane if you started mumbling nonsense under your breath. Then again, he had supposedly been killing people, so who was he to judge?
