AUBREYS POVI went to sleep that night with nothing on my mind but Lynn. I was nervous, I knew the sleepover was like a whole eighteen hours away but I was nervous.
what if it was awkward between us?
so I slept on it. well, I tried.
-
The next morning I found myself sleeping in, I must I've had a rough night. I pounce out of bed and walk down to the kitchen to grab a bite when I hear my mother yell out to me.
"Aub, can you lend me your hair straightener please?"
"Me and your farther are going out for the night, we're gonna go for dinner."
I smiled.
No. I smirked.
I had a huge grin on my face. This meant I could go to Lynn's sleepover without the argument.
"Yeah of course mom!" I yelled back. I was excited, I didn't tell her that though.
As I was pouring the cereal in the bowl all I could think about was what I was gonna wear. Perhaps a hoodie and shorts?
Silk pyjamas?
Maybe just an oodie would do?
Wait I have old Christmas pyjamas.
NO WAY.
What was I thinking?
-
As the day passed on it got closer and closer to going lynns and I was freaking out.
Eventually the time came and my mother and farther were finally ready to head out.
"Mom!" I yelled in annoyance.
She was always the reason we ran late, 24/7, 100% of the time.
"Hush, your the child I'm the adult." She replies.
I roll my eyes and make my way to the car with my stuff to wait. I catch my dad wiping down the car windows, a screw driver in his mouth and tape on his hand.
"Dad are you okay?" I asked.
He was so determined to get the speck of dust that just so happened to stay on no matter how much he tried to scrub it.
"Yeah I'm okay kiddo, just wanna make sure my car looks decent." he turns to me, kissing me on the head.
"You ready?" He looks down at me.
"Of course I'm ready, it's her you should be worried about." I turned to see my mom rushing into the car.
I've always had a love-hate relationship with my mother. It wasn't always the best. We were too much alike in her my dads eyes but my mom always told me that I am so much like my dad.
"I'm sorry, I'm coming now." She groans.
"What?" My mother asks, my dad shot her a concerned look.
He was dressed in work pants and an AC/DC shirt, she was wearing a whole gown.
"Do you want me to go out like I'm fucking homeless?" she looks at my dad, leaning on his side of the car.
"Is that what you guys want??"
We snap back into reality.
"Obviously not mom." I cross my arms. "Why so dressed up though?" I asked.
I was concerned, was there someone else she was trying to impress?
"Get in kiddo, we've gotta drop you off and be at reservations by six." Dad softly nudges me in the car.
