Semi-Important Author's Note: Hey guys! So, since I finished my book "The World's Not Waiting For You" (and will be working on the sequel), this book is going to be taking its place on the schedule. Anyways, that's all I wanted to say. Thanks for all the positive feedback so far (apologies to those whose stories my book seems similar to, I had/have no intention of copying you), I really appreciate it! Thanks for reading and I hope you like this update! -Rachael
-PJ's POV-
I walked through the door of my apartment and turned around to see my boyfriend and his friends sitting on the couch, watching TV. I slipped my shoes off and set down my guitar case. My boyfriend looked over at me and straightened his posture, "Hey! How'd it go? Are you their new bassist?"
I shrugged my shoulders and walked over to him, sitting down on his lap and draping my arms around his neck, "I think it went pretty well. I don't think I'm their new bassist, though. There were probably at least fifty better people who auditioned before me. I was the last one to go. They looked so sick and tired of hearing people audition...I bet you they weren't even paying attention."
"They better have. Because no one's better at playing bass than my girlfriend," He said before giving me a kiss on the cheek.
"Well I know who you like better," Zack muttered under his breath. I glanced over at him with a sympathetic grin.
"You told them you're my girlfriend, right?" Alex questioned.
"Alex, I don't need to tell people I'm your girlfriend to get things in life."
"Yeah, but you never know. It might've helped, you know, put you over everyone else. Give you that push, that little advantage. I mean, we did tour with them before and got along pretty well. I wonder if they still even remember us..." He zoned out, going into his own thoughts.
"I'm sure you did fine, PJ," Jack joined the conversation. I looked over at him. "And if you don't get the gig, then you'll just have to wait till we kick Zack out of the band."
"Hey!" Zack exclaimed. Jack stuck his tongue out at him.
"Don't worry, Zack, I won't take your place in the band," I reassured him. He smiled gratefully. "...yet," I tacked on. His smile turned into a glare. Alex, Jack, Rian, and I burst into laughter.
"Guys, that isn't funny!" Zack cried over our laughter that kept going. "Guys! Really! Stop it!"

It was later that evening and I walked into Alex's and my bedroom from the bathroom, tying my wet hair into a pony tail. Alex was lying in bed, doing something on his laptop. I plopped down beside him and exhaled loudly in an attempt to attract his attention. He took a quick glance over at me before returning his gaze back to his laptop.
"Something got you down?" He asked.
"I don't know...I'm just really anxious about how my audition went, I guess."
"Babe, I'm sure you did great."
"But what if great's not good enough for them? Alex, I think I need this," I turned on my side towards him, "Like, I think I really need this. Do you know what it would mean for me to be Fall Out Boy's bassist? Even if it's only temporary?"
Alex closed his laptop and set it aside, "It would mean a lot. You'd finally get that big break you've been waiting for."
"Exactly. And that's why I'm so nervous I didn't make it. I mean, I know myself. And I've been rejected before and I'll just pick myself back up and find something else like I always do, but...this time's different. I don't think I've wanted anything more in my life. I mean, at first, I auditioned just for the sake of seeing what a band like them had to say about my playing. But now that I've had time to think it...I think this is something I really want."
