Rui's Pov:
I was walking in the hallway, until suddenly I bumped into a short boy with blonde hair. "Sorry, sorry!" I started apologizing as I stared at him, "I know." he smiled slightly, "You know..? Huh?" I tilted my head, "I know I'm handsome, now stop staring at me!" his smile grew. His smile was warm and nice. I smiled at him back and started walking away. How cute..
next day ✦
I sighed as the weather kept getting warmer, "It's hot, right?" I heard a familiar voice as the boy with blonde hair sat next to me, "Are you following me?" I asked. "It's a small school!!" he retorted, he's cute when he's mad.
"I'm Tsukasa, Tsukasa Tenma!" He introduced himself, what a nice name.. "I'm Rui Kamishiro." I smiled. "There's ice cream in the canteen! Wanna buy some?" He asked happily like a child asking his mother, "I'm not really an ice cream person.." I stated, "Well, that's no fun!" he grabbed my arm and ran to the canteen.
some time passes ✦
"Ruiii- ow.." Tsukasa grunted as he held his stomach, "Tsukasa?! Are you okay?" I ran to him, "I'm fine! I just have abs!!" he joked, I sighed in relief. "Rui, do you have any other friends?" Tsukasa asked, "I do.. but just a few!" I answered, "Oh!! I don't really have any other friends but you.." he pouted, "Well, don't be sad! Atleast you have me!" I smiled at him warmly.
"Hey, Tsukasa, are you going out on the day of the dead tomorrow ? I'm going to visit my grandparents.." I asked, "Oh? I'm sorry for your loss!! But, what cemetery are you going to?" he asked, "Oh, just there in [insert graveyard name here]." I answered. "Really?? We're going there too! We're really best friends!!" He said excitingly.
the next day ✦ (i love time skips)
"I'll just be there for a while.." I told my mother, "Don't go too far." she responded.
As I walked, something caught my eye. It was a grave. "Tsukasa Tenma?.." I read shocked. "You know my brother?" I heard a voice, I turned around to see a girl with blonde hair in pigtails. "Brother?" I asked, "My brother, do you know him? You seem really shocked to see his grave." She asked again. "I'm surprised you know him, it's my first time seeing someone next to his grave, he doesn't really have friends, but based on your reaction, you seem to know him." she followed,
"He's dead?.." tears falling from my eyes, "Looks like you're the last one to know.. He died last year, he got stabbed in the stomach 2 times." she explained, "He was murdered inside a classroom." she added. "I'm sorry for your loss." I sniffled as I walked away.
"Rui!" Tsukasa ran up to me smiling, "Tsukasa?.. Why are you in school, isn't it the day of the dead?" I lamented. His smile slowly faded. "Is it true?.." "Is it true that you're dead?" I wept, "I'm sorry, I didn't tell you sooner." Tsukasa looked at me. "I was waiting!" Tsukasa smiled slightly. "Waiting?" I looked up at him.
"I was waiting for someone to finally see me and for them to see my grave. That's the last and only thing I need to do to be free from this school." Tsukasa explained.
That's why I always wondered why his eyes are always so sad when he's smiling, or laughing. That's why you're always holding your stomach. That's why my classmates are always looking at me weirdly when I talk to you. You were dead all along since last year.
"Are you scared of me??" Tsukasa questioned, "I don't regret anything, Tsukasa." I smiled at him with tears in my eyes, "Im happy I met you." I added.
"Why can't you just stay here?" I cried, he wiped my tears and he shook his head. "Thank you.. and sorry that I'm going to leave you, but I need to rest now." tears filled his eyes. "Byebye, Rui! Thank you for everything." He waved goodbye as he faded away infront of me.
