Then I Met You (Sequel to Accidental Romance)

Chapter One

"So are we ever going to talk about what happened?"

I sat with my legs crossed underneath me on Cole's bed.

"What do you mean?" Cole turned to look at me from the other side of the room.

We were at his house in L.A. We had been back together for just over a fortnight, and I had been staying with him and his mum in L.A. for most of that time.

"What happened with Emma..."

Cole froze.

"Uh"

"Look, Cole. I'm not gonna be mad or anything, I mean, how could I be? We're together." I smiled at him, and he relaxed a little. "I just want to know what happened."

Cole hesitated.

"I told you everything that happened to me."

Cole sighed and walked over to sit next to me on the bed.

"Look, I did what I had to do to get you back. And keep you safe."

I just looked at him.

He sighed again.

"Ok. Well, I already told you how I found out the card you gave me was also a USB."

I nodded. "You threw it across the room in frustration."

"Yeah, and when Dalton and I had looked through everything and read your notes, we called the boys, our parents and the partners. It took them hours to talk everything through, and even then they hadn't come to a decision. I was in my room later that night, annoyed that nothing was happening, so I decided to call Ed. It took a while, but eventually I got to talk to him and Mike. I told them that I knew, and that I wanted to help."

"And they let you, just like that?" I asked, my annoyance at them for letting Cole get involved slipping through.

"Well, eventually. Mike wasn't exactly all for it, but as always, Ed gets his way." Cole smiled ruefully, and I smiled in return.

"So then what happened?"

"Ed spoke to my parents, Jill, and the partners. He pulled the FBI in too."

"What, really?"

Cole nodded.

"Yeah, after my parents insisted that law enforcement was involved in some way – I don't think they fully trusted Ed's intentions."

"He never would have let anything happen to you." I said, a little hurt that two such caring people would misjudge Ed like that.
