The group had been walking for nearing forty minutes. estella had moved away from negan and walked behind everyone. she was a lot more focused on the graffiti on the walls. it all looked so cool. in that world, there was always a lot of graffiti, but it was usually just pointless words written around on the walls. however, in that place, there were actual drawings. actual art. there were incredibly detailed skeletons on the walls, some of them wearing top hats, and others with cigars in their mouths. it was cool. however, there was one thing written on the wall in white spray paint, that read, 'if there is a god, he will have to beg for my forgiveness.' and to be honest, estella agreed with that a lot, because she understood it.

if there really was a god, he would have to beg her to forgive him. he would have to beg her to forgive him for so much. for taking away her life. for taking away her parents, her childhood. taking away her friends, people she cared about. taking away the world. taking away something as simple as going to school. taking away normal lives. maybe some people deserved it, but there was also innocent people that didn't. innocent children like her six year old self that saw on the news that people were eating people for the first time. people like her six year old self who's dad had to cuddle them to sleep on the night times before the apocalypse hit america because they were so scared. innocent people. pure, innocent kids.

her train of thoughts were cut off, though, when a loud creaking was heard from above. estella quickly moved backwards in shock, hitting kasper's front. she didn't bother to move, and he put his hand on her hip to steady her as he looked up to the roof with his brows furrowed. everyone stopped, looking equally as confused as each other. why was this place noisy? what was going on?

"what the hell was that?" alden asked, looking around with his flashlight in his hand as if he could see noise. stupid ass.

"the storms pushing air through the pipes, making them make noises like that. they're old and rusty, which means the pressure is a lot for them to handle since they haven't been used in a while. it ain't anything serious, we're good." kasper said, moving away from estella as he touched one of the pipes.

"you know what that noise actually is? that's god telling us to turn back around." negan said, making gabriel turn around.

"i'm pretty sure he'd say that to me first," he rolled his eyes. that's when estella rolled hers even harder and pinched the bridge of her nose. she was getting real tired of everybody acting like fifth graders. she wished she could just tell gabriel that god wasn't going to say anything to him, because he wasn't real. if he was, they wouldn't be scavenging dangerously for food. however, she kept her mouth shut.

"yeah, did the good lord direct your one eyeball to this? the waterline mark. that means this tunnel floods often, or more so, when it rains." negan said, pointing his flashlight to marks on the walls.

kasper slowly nodded his head. "i hate to say it, but he's right."

"it's bad down here, it's worse up there." estella said, "it's easier if we continue the walk down here, just like we planned to do."

"look, all i'm saying is—"

before negan could even finish his sentence, daryl cut him off. "and it ain't workin'. you tryin' to run shit. keep movin'."

daryl then turned around and walked off, whistling for dog to follow him. everyone walked after him, so estella just let out a sigh and continued to walk behind everyone. the creaking wasn't the best sound in the world, it was actually pretty scary. it was scary enough down there as it was, in the dark, underground, all of them squished together in an old building. with the sound effects, it was even worse. not to mention the fact that estella's clothes were sticking to her due to the wetness, which was completely uncomfortable. it was clearly bothering kasper, too, as he was twitching like a tweaker, distress evident on his face.
