||Chapter 2||
When Luke opened that door and I saw him standing there, I lost it. I ran towards him and engulfed him in a bone-crushing hug. I held onto him on for dear life, happy tears streaming down my face. I hid my face in the crook of his neck as he held me and ran his hand through my hair, letting me cry and leave his shoulder wet.
I thought I'd never see him again after he joined the army. Honestly, things were pretty rough for me when he left. He.. He was my best friend. And he still is. He may have been gone for centuries but I still love him with all my heart.
No, I do not have a crush on him, you ship-crazed bastards. He's my best friend.
''Missed me, red cheeks?" He whispered teasingly, my eyes seeing his familiar brown ones.
"No," I smiled, wiping the tears from my eyes. "Never."
He curved his lips into a little smile. "C'mon, cupcake, you know you can't live without me."
"Shut up," I hissed as I wiggled out of my embrace, giggling. As soon as I was out of his arms, my little sister Talia comes and jumps on his arms, screaming.
"Ty-bear!" She squealed, wrapping her little arms around him. "I missed you!" She looked at him, pouting.
"I missed you too, little princess," He replied, kissing her forehead, earning a little giggle from her.
"But you is here now! And we're going to have lots of fun! We gonna have pijama party and I'm gonna teach you to braid my hair," She began rambling with her toddler English until dad interrupted her.
"Tyler, son, good to see you again," He said doing their weird handshake thing as dad took Talia from Tyler's arms. "Now, breakfast is ready, served, and I'm hella hungry, you see?" He said, attempting to be 'hip with the kids' with the use of the word 'hella'. I'm not even sure he should say that in front of Talia. "So let's cut this short and go eat."
"Actually.. I wanted to give Leah her gift before that," He said, smiling. "If that's all right?"
"Go ahead, son," Dad replied.
I followed Tyler out of the house, still in my pajamas -which is pretty embarrassing-.We walked for about 10 minutes, which went by really quick. We walked until we reached a park and that's when it clicked, this is the place where we became friends.
"Tyler," I gasped.
"I know, red cheeks," He smiled.
"You remember?" I asked, surprised.
"Of course I would," He whispered, engulfing me in a bone crushing hug. "Why else would I bring you here?"
I laughed softly. "True."
"Leah, don't move," He said and ran away.
I watched him disappear through the park, and sat down and started to think. I zoned off, memories filling my mind and slowly pulling me from reality. My vision was clouded by the tears streaming down my face, but it didn't matter. I just kept running. Once I realized I was far enough I came to a stop. I was at a park I had no idea existed.
I sat down under a tree and looked around and saw a bunch of kids playing. I sighed heavily, I was tired of running.
I rested my head on my knees, enjoying the warm feeling of the sun, until I felt someone's presence. I looked up to meet a pair of gorgeous brown eyes. I was mesmerized by them."Hey," I heard him say, "Mind if I join you?"
"Sure," I said, patting down a space next to me.
"Thanks," He replied, sitting next to me.
"What's your name?" He asked sweetly.
"My name is Leah," I said softly. "What's yours?"
"I'm Tyler," He replied. "You.. You look like you've been crying, Leah."
I looked to the side, pressing my cheek against my knee. "It's.. It's nothing. Just... Nothing."
Tyler gave me an unsure look. "If it's nothing, then why are you crying?" He waited for me to say something back, but I didn't. So he continued. "If it really was nothing, you wouldn't be crying. So please tell me."
So I did. I told him everything. I told him exactly why I was running away: Justin. He and a group of other kids saw me fall on my butt into a puddle of mud. Thankfully Tyler did not seem to notice. Or maybe he did and never said anything.
And he hugged me.
He hugged me for a short while, and I was forced to at least hug him back. He whispered a quiet "Sorry", still hugging me. I had to tell him to let me go, and he apologized again. Everything was silent for a little while until he spoke again.
"So.. Leah. Tell me something about you."
"Well.. I'm not really interesting, but if you insist.." I began, forming a little smile. "My name is Leah Williams and I'm 8 years old. I play the piano, and I want to take guitar classes. I also sing. I play basketball, baseball and soccer, I have 3 older brothers and 2 younger ones. Ashton, Dylan, Leo and Nathan." I finished, looking over at him. "Now tell me about you, Tyler."
"Well, I'm Tyler Van Weile... Okay, don't laugh, I know it sounds kinda stupid." I couldn't help but smile as he continued. "I'm 9 years old and I play the drums. I.. I don't sing too well though. I play soccer, basketball, football and I can swim. I have 2 older brothers and 3 younger sisters: Xavier, Zachary, Zara, Amelia, and baby Riley. That's basically everything." He smiled at me, and I smiled back.
After that, me and Tyler talked some more and decided to go back home. We've been best friends ever since.
"What are you thinking about?" Tyler said, interrupting my thoughts.
I smiled. "I was just getting some flashbacks. This brings back a lot of memories," I said, chuckling. My eyes looked him over, analyzing him now and seeing how much he's changed over the years. I also noticed something else.
"Hey, what's with the guitar?"
