At last, another vampire oneshot. This one has been in the ideas box for a hot minute, but I finally had a stroke of inspiration and wrote it all in one day.
This is a regency / medieval fantasy vampire setting. My Jane Austen obsession paying off here. Soft warning for sensual content, but no hard smut.
Wooyoung was nervous as he stood in front of the pane of silver. He fixed his bright red hair in the reflection for the hundredth time, even though it looked fine. He did his best to stop his hands from trembling. He was nervous, but he was also giddy. The combination made a mess of his stomach.
He couldn't believe it. His mother, the duchess, had actually managed to gain and audience with the Kang family. They were next to royals, courtiers unlike any other and friends to the real royal family, the Choi family. Only a very special few even got to see them, let alone dine with them.
At the same time, it made sense. His mother's beauty was know throughout the kingdom, nothing near the Kang family of course, but most certainly nothing to scoff at either. Her charismatic networking had actually landed them in the eyes of the famous family.
She did it for the both of them. The only remaining residence of the Jung estate, they were struggling. Though they very much tried to hide it, going to grand parties, wearing expensive clothes, talking to important people. They held their heads high, like nothing was wrong. It was only the trademark Jung family charisma that kept them in good graces with the courtiers. They needed something big if they were going to save their estate, and their standing as the Duchess and her son.
Something like, a good word from the Kang family. Though in reality, they were hoping for more.
They each had their own dreams concerning the Kangs.
The head of the family, famously a widower, was known to be looking for a new rose to sit at his side, but he only ever entertained the finest of women, the most beautiful, though no one could truly ever contend with the old rose. The duchess dreamed her beauty was enough to wear that golden ruby ring that was the envy of every woman who had seen it on the late Mrs Kang's finger. Fanciful, yes, but Wooyoung was fond of the way she dreamed like young girl, as if those wrinkles around her eyes and the whisper of grey in her hair were merely an illusion.
