Our next stop was Madrid. Nothing out of the ordinary happened here, apart from the fact that we were running a little late as we had a long drive from Lisbon behind us. When we arrived at the location, Bojan dressed up as Damiano, since I had joked yesterday that he could perform as Damiano today. He had applied thick black eyeliner and combed his hair back with lots of gel. We all bursted out laughing when we saw him dressed like that. He had actually pulled it off, going on stage like that to perform with Joker Out. But of course not without performing a cover of "Zitti e buoni", where he certainly perfectly imitated Damiano. I had unfortunately missed this spectacle, because I was still working on my make up.
After our performance, we all quickly went back to the hotel, where we went to sleep right away, because we would have to get up early again tomorrow to go to Barcelona.
When we arrived in Barcelona, the city greeted us with a scorching midday heat. Since the city was located directly on the sea, I had hoped that a cool breeze would cool down the air. But I was apparently mistaken. The hotel, we would be staying in for the night, was located directly in the old town, near the Rambla, the largest shopping street. I admired the iconic Gothic buildings that lined up here. I couldn't take my eyes off all the delicate buildings with their large glass surfaces, pointed towers, elaborate decorations and flying buttresses and would have loved to stop to admire them. While we were strolling through the alleys, I heard Bojan, who was walking behind me, singing: "Baby, who needs California? When I still got you on my telephone, yeah. I know exactly where I am going to: For me it's Barcelona-lona-lona-lona. For me it's Barcelona-lona-lona-lona." "Did you just made that up, Bojan?", I asked curiously, since it was a pretty nice melody. "Nah, unfortunatelly, not. This song is by Eleni Foureira, perhaps you might know her. She represented Cyprus at the ESC in 2018 and even won 2nd place with her pretty cool dance number "Fuego". "Bojan is a walking encyclopedia when it comes to Eurovision.", Jan revealed to me. "He knows almost every song from every year." "But of course only since I started to watch the ESC. It must have been around 2004, when Ruslana participated with the banger "wild dances".", Bojan added. "Oh yeah, I remember that, too. It was a pretty nice song everyone was literally going wild for back in the days.", Jan answered. I had also been watching the ESC for quite some time, but had only become a real fan of the competition since the participation and victory of Måneskin.
Our hotel was also tastefully decorated, as it was characterized by antique figures and heavy curtains. Once again, we just briefly dropped off our luggage and made our way to the location. I would have liked to take a short nap in the inviting looking bed, but our time was running short.
We quickly jumped into our stage clothing, which consisted mainly of red color, to represent some spanish spirit. I wore an airy almost see-through blouse and a pair of red leather shorts. Even though, I had not felt comfortable with the revealing clothes at the beginning, I had been grateful every time, because the temperatures prevailing on stage would otherwise have been unbearable.
Once again, our performance went like clockwork. We had become a well-rehearsed team by now. When we played a cover of Juanes "Camisa negra" as a final encore, the crowd went absolutely wild. So we left the stage sweaty, but satisfied.
While we were still walking down the hall towards our lounge, we could already hear the singing and hooting of our opening band: "Y no se confundan. Señora' y señore'. Yo siempre estoy ready. Pa' romper cadera', romper corazones." I smiled, I recognized "SloMo" by Chanel immediately, as it was one of my favorite songs from Eurovision.
When we entered the room, we saw the boys dancing and jumping exuberantly. Kris even twerked while Bojan was slapping his ass. We joined their dancing and sang at the top of our lungs: "Take a video. Watch it slow mo, mo, mo, mo, mo (yeah). Booty hypnotic. Make you want more, more, more, more, more." Our bodies, dripping from sweat, moved to the beat of the music. I rubbed my butt against damiano's leg and then danced over to Vic, who immediately put her hands on my hips to guide my movements. "So, who wants to roam the streets of Barcelona some more?", shouted Bojan when the song ended. We all cheered in agreement and immediately set off.
