Four Elements [A Ryan Higa Fanfic]

The parents of each beings are not related to any of these elements, they are all just normal human beings. The parents also do not know whether their child possess these elements until the age of 18. Only after their birthdays will they see their powers showing up. Also, on the same day that their powers show up, fairies will be sent to them to teach them.

"Happy birthday to you~" Everybody sang as it was Catherine's birthday.
"Thanks everybody! Love you lots!" Everybody cheered and clapped for Catherine as she blew the candles.
"Happy birthday Catherine. You're finally 18, the oldest amongst us." Ryan said as puts his hand on her waist. Ryan and Catherine have been dating for 3 years while Mia and Sean have been dating for a year.
"Thanks babe. Soon it will be Mia's turn!" Catherine clapped.
"Two more months and I'll become 18." Mia chuckled.
"Happy birthday Catherine. You've changed a lot ever since and you're finally 18 now. I'll still think of you as my little sister." Sean said as he hugged Catherine.
"Fine, even though I'm older than you." Catherine pouted.
"Only by a few months so it doesn't really matter." Sean teased, winking at her. Catherine chuckled and the four of them went outside to the garden.
Ryan, Sean, Catherine and Mia met at the age 8. They met while playing tag in a playground. That's when their friendship started to strengthen and by the time they reached high school, they were inseparable. Throughout their friendship, feelings were developed. Ryan started to have a crush on Catherine at the age of 10. Although Ryan may be jealous at times due to the fact that Catherine has a lot of crushes, he did not give up. He couldn't hold it back in anymore and decided to confess after 5 years. That's when he knew that Catherine too had feelings for him. They started dating since then. For Mia and Sean, they started to notice each other at the age of 16, which was 2 years ago. It took them a year to hide everything but it was so obvious that they liked each other. It took them some encouragement from Ryan and Catherine for them to confess to each other and in the end, they're finally in a relationship. Since then, everyone was happy the way it was.

{The next day}
As Catherine was cleaning the house, she noticed something different. While she was mopping the floor, a tiny droplet of water came out of her hand. She was confused at first, trying to find where that water come from, but there wasn't any trace of water on her hand nor her arm. It was definitely something suspicious.
"Ryan!" Catherine shouted, feeling very scared. Ryan came down immediately as he sensed that his girlfriend wasn't feeling alright.
"What's wrong babe?" Ryan asked worriedly.
"Look at this." Catherine lifted her hand up and showed Ryan that tiny droplet dropping from her hand.
"Babe, it's just water. Why are you so worried?"
"Look! There's no trace of water anywhere on my body so how can that droplet of water be dropping from my hand?!" Ryan observed closely and nodded.
"Don't worry, it's not that serious." Ryan said as he kissed the cheek of a worried girl. He himself is worried of her. As Ryan went up, a fairy popped up beside Catherine.
"Hello Catherine. I'm Aqua, your fairy." Aqua said. Catherine, feeling confused, turned around and was shocked to see a fairy talking to her.
"Who.. Who are you?!" Catherine exclaimed. She got so scared that she ran up to Ryan's room.
"Ryan! Ryan! There is this fairy talking to me!!" Catherine shouted.
"Where is it?"
"Over there! Can't you see?!" Catherine pointed to Aqua. The thing is, people cannot see fairies, only the chosen one. Even though one has a chosen element, only they can see their own fairy.
"Babe I don't know where you are pointing at. Can you please calm down." Ryan said as he grabbed hold of her shoulders.
"But.. But.." Catherine stammered. Can't he see that fairy flying all over his room? It was so obvious!
"Catherine, calm down. Come down to the garden and I'll tell you everything." Aqua flew down to the garden to wait for her. Catherine slowly nodded. She wanted to know why that fairy was after her.
"I-I'm sorry babe. Continue doing your work..." Catherine apologised.
"I love you, Catherine." Ryan grabbed her wrist then pulled her to give her a peck on her lips. That earned him a tomato Catherine.
"I love you too Ryan." Catherine chuckled then left for the garden. Her mind was full of questions waiting to be answered. But the thing is, can they be answered?
Catherine reached the garden and the fairy was visibly seen. Catherine walked cautiously to Aqua as she stayed still, waiting for Catherine to come. Successfully, Catherine stopped at a distance, enough for them to talk.
"You may be thinking, why am I here? I am here to explain everything." Catherine nodded, signalling Aqua to move on.
"You are the chosen one to represent an element, and that element is water. There are only 4 beings that are chosen to represent each element and you Catherine, are the first one. After one's birthday, a fairy will be sent to them to teach them how to use their element correctly. If us fairies do not exist, it can be very disastrous. My name is Aqua and I am here to teach you the basics of using the element of water."
"Why am I the chosen one?"
"I am in no position to answer that question. However, one cannot escape the position of being the chosen one."
"Really?! I don't want to have these 'elements' in me! I want to be a normal human being leading a normal life! If I have this element in me, will I still have a normal life? Like having a job, having a family and all of those?"
"If you can manage your element, you can."
"Ugh... So that means I have to go through some sort of 'training', am I right?"
"Yes." Catherine sighed. She had no choice but to accept the reality given to her.
"When will this training start?"
"Tomorrow."
"Can I tell my friends about this?"
"Yes, but it's up to them whether they want to believe or not."
"I hope they will believe me. They are my bestest friends after all." Aqua nodded.
"By the way, will you be with me the whole time?"
"Yes."
"Even when I need my privacy?"
"I am a female so do not worry."
"Even though you are, I still need my privacy." Catherine whispered as she pouted.
"What was that?"
"Even so, just know when you need to close your eyes or not."
"Yes."
"I'm going to sleep." Catherine yawned. She wanted to deal with all of this tomorrow. It was getting late too. She went back up to Ryan's room.
"Babe, I'm gonna sleep." Catherine said, as she slipped under the blanket beside Ryan.
"Sure. Goodnight babe." Ryan said before giving a sweet kiss to Catherine.
"I hope they don't find me crazy." Catherine thought.
