Chapter 27: Apologies

Mikey was in the bed infirmary as his body was getting a check up after today's events. Doctors and nurses were more hostile as they were smoldering, but still required to do their jobs.

Mikey sat in a hospital bed, waiting for the check up to be over. They ran blood tests and psychological exams as well. He face showed disappointment in himself. He came to found out that he has a anxiety disorder from his built up penitence.

Once he was done, he left the room and saw the guys outside in the hallway, instead of welcoming if he is alright, they created a bit of distance; clearly showing that they were upset with him.

" Your all set Mikey?" Draken asked.

Mikey nodded, they instantly got up from their chairs and headed towards the exit, surprising Mikey by giving him the hint to pick up his pace or he will be left behind, so Mikey followed pursuit; slumped after the day.

They got to their vehicles and continued to drive home. Mikey and Draken being in the same car; it was a quiet ride, Draken didn't bother to check in on him, didn't even bother to look at him either. He just drove the car to their designated living space.

After the silent ride, they made it home. Draken opened the door and was welcome by his beautiful wife making dinner and his exciting daughter who was screaming at the top of her lungs to see and hug her dad. Draken picked her up and kissed her numerously with love. Mikey was right behind them, witnessing the heart touching moments that he felt like he shouldn't surround himself with after the day.

Mikey just slipped past and headed up the stairs towards his room, Draken saw and just gave a agitated side eye, but just let him go.

" Hey baby, how was your day today? Where's Mikey?" Emma asked while giving Draken a quick kiss, but also noticing his odd behavior.

" You will not believe today, it was terrible." Draken answered, detecting the anger in his voice. He walked over to the couch and slumped himself while carrying the baby.

" Did the challenge go bad? What happened?" Emma questioned while sitting next to him.

" Mikey happened!" Draken answered with anger, reframing himself from raising his voice in front of his daughter until Izana and Kakucho walked in the house and picked up the baby into another room to play with her.

Mikey was sitting on his bed, staring at the ground as he was hearing Draken explain to Emma the events that occurred, the lashing grew worse.

" He's such a damn idiot! He knew how important it is for this organization to put their trust in us with this alliance, but he doesn't have common sense to restrain himself in these situations. That's he's problem, he doesn't have restraint, he never has it! When he almost took Takemichi's life that night, he never realized that he was going too far. He's incomprehensible—"

Mikey was disconsolate, every word Draken was venting, he was right. He's an issue that can't be fixed, a conflict without a resolution.

The sun rose as the next morning came. Mikey laid in his bed and stared at the ceiling all night without sleep. He never even paid attention to the time, he was just staring off into space. He got up and grabbed his phone to see the time; it was 11am.

Mikey got up from his bed and went downstairs to the kitchen, where he found Emma breastfeeding the baby. " Good morning Emma." Mikey murmured.

" Morning Mikey." Emma replied dryly.

Mikey picking up on her attitude, he understood her mood after last night. He hesitantly sat down on the couch, creating some distance from Emma, seeing that she wants personal space. " Where is Kenny and everyone else?" Mikey asked, noticing that they weren't here.
