"So, who are these guys?" Rachel asked as they approached a door at the end of the corridor.

"And do they have food?"

"Old friends," the detective answered, glancing back at them. "Truth is, I haven't seen them for a long time."

He knocked on the door, waiting for a moment. Jordan adjusted the strap of her bag, bouncing on her heals as silence rushed into her ears.

The door opened, revealing a woman, platinum hair braided to the side, resting on her slender shoulder. Her face held such grace, the blue-haired girl couldn't help but to hold her breath. Her smile faded as her brown eyes met Dick's.

"Hey," he said, an awkwardness to his stance. She stared at him for a moment.

"Hi." Her voice was like velvet, a blush bubbling under Jordan's face when the woman glanced at her. It seemed she had been carved by Zeus himself.

"Hi. I'm Rachel." She held her hand out for the woman to shake whilst breaking the awkward silence.

"I'm Dawn."

"Can we talk?" The detective asked, Dawn trying to hold on to the gentle smile.

"You're about four years to late, but sure." She stepped aside, allowing them to file in.

"Wow. This place is huge," Rachel commented.

"Yeah. Like the clubhouse." Jordan admired the ceiling, even though it was nothing special. Plain white paint, but the influence made everything interesting.

"What clubhouse?"

"Mickey would be... appalled." She furrowed her brows, a hand on her chest in disappointment. She subtly slipped a pill into her mouth, getting used to the small lump that trailed down her throat.

They were led up to the roof, both girls immediately fascinated by the bird cage.

"They're so pretty," Rachel admired.

"Yeah... you think we could cook 'em up?" Rachel sent her a horrid look. "I'm kidding. They're too cute for that, aren't you?" She cooed, poking her finger through the fencing to try and pet one. She glanced at Dawn. "She's gorgeous."

"Yeah. And nice."

"Mhm. One fine specimen. One hot omelette."

"What is wrong with you?" Rachel laughed, gently pushing the girl's shoulder.

"Hey. What the hell are you doing here, Dick?" A tall, bulked man walked up to the two adults, an obvious anger in his tone. They stood as the two teens watched, on edge.

"Hank," Dawn warned gently.

"I had a situation." Dick stretched his neck, an uncomfortable look befalling him.

"Nice little reunion you got going on here," the man sassed, undoubtedly jealous.

"You know it's not like that." Jordan's brows raised, putting the pieces together. She glanced at the birds before her eyes met Rachel's. She mouthed a "yikes" before shamelessly eavesdropping once again.

"Sure looks like it to me."

"Hank." Dawn gestured to the two teens behind the man. He looked back at them, prompting their eyes back to the birds in front of them.

"Well, this is awkward," Jordan mumbled. Rachel hummed in agreement, poking seeds through the squared holes. The small creatures flapped around, a strange smell coming at the girl's nose.

Back inside, the two were placed in the spare room, leaving Dick on the couch for the night. Jordan sighed, sitting in a wooden chair while Dick and Rachel made the bed, their conversation being about Dawn. Jordan laughed when Dick denied it, the obvious chemistry, explaining they were kids at the time.
