"These are actually good." Jordan waved the fries in front of her face. "Even the cold ones."

"I know right?" Rachel agreed, stuffing her mouth. "You should try some," she said to Kory, the woman looking over at them.

"Pass."

"What? Do you not eat?" Jordan scoffed, nodding her head, still secretly admiring the woman's impeccable bone structure.  She admired and was admittedly a bit jealous of the woman's seemingly non-existent appetite.

"Not hungry. Are you two gonna be long with that?" She ran her tongue over her teeth, something she seemed to do a lot.

"We ordered burgers too," Rachel answered, chewing on a fry. The woman sighed, taking a seat opposite the two.

"The cop you told me about in Detroit..."

"Yeah, Dick. What about him?"

"He's not your father, is he?"

"No," Rachel paused, a hint of sass in her voice. "He was just a cop who was trying to..." She trailed off, hair swaying as she shook her head. "It doesn't matter. He didn't really wanna help us anyway." She forced a smile to her lips.

"Do you know anything about your real father?"

"Not much. My mom... Melissa, she never really talked about him that much." Jordan couldn't help the apparent confusion that soaked her face at their mother's real name. Despite her not being their biological mother, she still cared for them in every way possible. She was still their mother. Better than the ones who didn't want them in the first place. "I mean, like, not ever."

Kory nodded, looking off to the side, Rachel smiling at her annoyance with the choice of music. Shoveling more fries into her mouth, Jordan rubbed her oily fingers together, the greasy feeling fascinating her for a moment.

"I'm gonna change this music before my head explodes."

"Well, we need money for the arcade."

"There was an arcade?" Jordan's eyes lit up with delight, her sister unable to tell if she had actually not noticed the bright, flashing lights on the other side of the space. She looked down at the hundred-dollar bill Kory handed her.

"Really?"

"All I got." The woman left the booth, the two rushing to finish their food.

Rachel took on Twilight Zone as Jordan wandered to go find Pacman. Failing in her quest as the game was out of order. She circled back to her sister, who was tapping away at the game.

"There's no Pacman," she sighed.

"Then go find something else," Rachel answered, not batting an eye in the girl's direction. With pouted lips, she sighed once more, opting to watch Rachel play instead. She was dazzled by the lights, strangely wanting to taste each colour. She got really into the game, cheering Rachel on as they laughed and took turns.

"Hitchhiker Lane. Nice." The green-haired boy seemed to appear out of nowhere by Rachel's side. He grinned, skin looming with the purple and green lights. He instructed Rachel on a move, leading her to score. "I'm Gar."

"Rachel." The exchange was awkward, making the other girl smile, having the tugging urge to feel the boy's beautiful face. His skin was strikingly smooth.

"Jordan," she introduced, poking her head around Rachel so he could see her. He smiled a "hi" to her, his attention returning to the game.

"Your hair is cool," he blurted at the same time as Rachel's "I like your hair." Jordan almost squealed at the interaction, her hand over her heart like a proud mother.
