Title: Twin
Genre: Mystery
Marline's POV
I'm walking at the sidewalk while holding a piece of paper that my aunt gave me a week ago. I told her that I'm finding a dormitory for myself. The first day of school is about to start in a few days therefore I need a place to stay.
"Excuse me? Where's Ate Linda's dormitory?" I asked the old man that standing beside the motorcycle.
He looked at me with a confused face and became scared the moment that my words sink in to his system. "I-I'm sorry but—did I heard it right? Ate Linda's dorm?" He nervously asked.
I stared at him using my confused look and nod. He, then point at something so I followed his finger and he is pointing at the beautiful but old house at my back. I stared at the house for a moment and smiled. I looked at the old man's place but no one's there.
My forehead crease as I tried to remember if I heard a motorcycle's noise but none. I think, my attention is in the house earlier therefore I can't remember that he already left.
I looked at the house again and the face of the boy came into my mind again. Why is he scared? I shrugged my shoulder and walk towards the gate. This big house doesn't look like a dormitory for me.
I rang the doorbell and minutes later the front door opened. It reveals the lady in a nice dress. She looks old but her beauty is still visible. She looks like she's in her late 80's. She smiled at me like she already knows who I am.
"Excuse me? Is this Ate Linda's dormitory?" I asked politely.
"Yes, hija? What can I do for you?" She opens the gate and gestured me to come in so I obey.
Once I step in, my breathing becomes heavy. I feel suffocated. The old lady notices my struggle, "Are you okay, hija?" She worriedly asked. I inhaled and exhaled few times to think that my breathing will be normal but it didn't. My vision becomes blurry and minutes later, I passed out.
"Go, Go! Darling, get out of this place, now!" A woman starts running while crying. She ran fast and far. She holds her chest trying to catch her breath. "Help me..."
I inhaled much amount of air along with my sobs. I confusingly touch my face when I felt something cold. I'm crying?
"Omg, hija?! What happened to you?" The old lady sits beside me while holding a cup of water. She gave me the water so I drink it like there's no tomorrow. I feel so tried. "By the way, hija. I'm Linda. I'm so worried about you earlier. I was about to throw some trash outside when suddenly I saw you passed out. What happened, hija? How did you open the gate?"
My hurting head, hurts more with that statement. "B-but, miss... you're the one who opened the gate for me?" As far as I remember she's the one who opened it. Not me.
"Me?" She points herself.
"Yes. If it's not you then who? Your twin?" I sat at the end of the bed and roam my eyes. We are in a big room. How did she carry me all the way here? She's old.
"Twin? I don't have a twi—" Right before she finished her sentence the bedroom door slam shut. We both shock from what happened and I felt her hands on my shoulder. "I mean... I have one but she's not here. I guess..." Fear is visible in her eyes while she's saying that. What happened? I also feel so mad for some reason.
We moved on to that incident and I told her what was the main reason why I am here. She confirmed that she has a bed space but her house is not a dormitory. She just wants someone to rent some rooms therefore she won't be lonely. All of her children are in states or already married.
