The Last Ones

It is all great having a simple job. Until something goes wrong.
Not long after Coronavirus had stopped, a new virus was found. Deep below the depths of the earth. Let me tell you from the beginning...

Me and a few friends have planned to meet up a bit later and they have something 'fun' planned apparently. My friends are strange. So, I don't know whether to be scared, or excited. I grabbed my keys and headed for the car.

I like driving around here. I am away from the big city, lots of countryside. Very peaceful. My friends wanted to meet up by a lake, the deepest lake around actually, so I am kind of scared for what is to come. Yes, I did my research on the lake we are going to. That's me. But I can't swim- they know that. I think?

I will keep driving for a bit, until I get to a petrol station. I need some petrol; I will just make a quick stop and grab a snack. It only took another 5 minutes of driving for me to get to a petrol station.

I pull up at a pump and get out. I walk over to the pump and grab the nozzle. I insert it into my car's open filler and pull the trigger to release the petrol. When I have filled my car up, I replace the nozzle and head towards the little shop.

As I walk through the door, a small bell dings above me and I walk over to the fridge. I grab a bottle of water and then go over to the shelves and scan them. I find the cakes and biscuits shelf and pick up a small pack of digestives. I head over to the till, give the cashier my items and tell them which pump I have used so I can pay for my petrol as well. When they finished scanning my items and I paid for them, I went back outside and got into my car.

I opened the pack of digestives and ate a couple. I put the remainders in my glove box, still in the wrapper for later and took a sip of my water before setting off again.

I drove for about 20 minutes to find this lake, and eventually, found it. I don't know why they brought me so far out? There is a lake just round the corner from my house. But no, they must come to this one. Honestly- my friends are insane.
