Maxine’s POV

I’m in a mental institute, I was designated insane and I have no family who could care for me, I’m only 16 but my parents died in a car accident, and it drove me crazy…literally. I took a lot of prescriptions and now I’m always foggy about things, I can hardly find my around my own bedroom in this insane asylum. I see fuzzy things most of the time. I think I see the same nurse everyday now, I’m not sure, but it’s not like I can see her well, and I can’t really clear my mind enough to remember her voice, or anything for that matter.

“Hello Maxine, do you remember me?” Said an unfamiliar female voice.

“Uhh…”*feeling stupid and raking brain for ideas* “I can’t really see anything well, and I don’t recognize your voice…sorry…” I said, running my hand through my brown hair in agitation.

“Well that’s okay. I’m Miss Leah and I’m your nurse, how is everything today?”

“I wouldn’t know how things are, I can’t see, and even if I knew how today was, I’d forget by tomorrow.”

“Well how are you feeling?”

“Shitty” I said coldly, hoping my rudeness would make her leave.

“W-well I’m very sorry t-that you feel that way, I-is here anything I can do to change how you f-feel?

“Ugh, you could start by leaving! And then not coming back!” I yelled, getting irritated at the poor stuttering nurse. She whimpered and ran out of the room.

I lay on my bed and sighed, I have the shortest motherfucking temper for stupid people, says the insane chic.

“Hello Maxine…” A voice said coolly, he sounded like someone from outside, in the real world, unlike in here, the nurses all sound cheerful, and all the crazies sound miserable.

“Are you from the real world?” I asked, bored, still lying on my bed, and looking up at the ceiling.

“Yes, would you like to go back to the real world?” The voice offered, this grabbed my attention, my eyes opened wide.

“Yes! Please I’m begging you, take me away from here!” I said in desperation.

“Sign your name and then you can leave.” A paper appeared before me, I grabbed a pen and wrote my name, Maxine Miller.

“Thanks.” And then like that I blacked out…
