Chapter 3

3 weeks later
Its been three weeks now since  last time's interaction with Mr. Fu and he hasn't stepped foot in my mom's restaurant 'what if my food gave him a medical condition...' My thoughts were interrupted by my mom, it seems she has been mentioning my name
"Mu'er dear what's wrong with you, you're getting me worried" my concerned mother voiced out
" sorry mama..."
"Now tell me baby what's going on,is there any issue at school"
"No mama" i replied looking down out of guilt
"Then why do you keep staring at the door as though you were expecting..." My mom paused and by the look on her face at that moment one could tell realization just hit her
"If its Mr. Fu you're worried about then stop because am sure he's fine" at that point i couldn't help but blush...'omg does mom know about my crush on Mr. Fu...no no I'm sure she has no idea about it" i thought before giving my mother a reassuring smile.
"That's more like it, now I'm going out to get more supplies kindly take care of the restaurant for me and serve the customers that come in while I'm away" my mom said and i nodded,she left right afterwards. Just thinking about how not seeing  Mr. Fu for three weeks  has affected me not only at the restaurant  but also at school, how I've been finding it so difficult to concentrate in class trying to figure out why he doesn't frequent the restaurant any more especially after i prepared my 'signature' dish for him got me wondering if its only a mere crush I have for him. 'Its been 15 minutes now since mom left to get supplies and its doesn't look like anyone will be coming I might as well get something to...' again my thoughts were interrupted when i heard the door to the restaurant open and shut
"Looks like my first customer for the day has arrived" i said to myself before picking the notepad and a pen to get the person's order. Walking towards the person i noticed the man was wearing casual yet expensive clothes and his back looked familiar but i brushed the thought out of my mind before getting to the man's table
"Good evening sir what..." I choked on my words as I lifted my head and lo and behold my Mr.Fu was seated in front of me and looking at me with a small smile on his face i almost screamed out of delight 'almost'.
"Hey there Mu Ran, never thought you'd miss me this much" he said and i couldn't help but blush.
"How have you been doing" he asked
"I've been good sir" I replied
" no need to be so formal with me, just calling me Fu would be fine"
"Okay sir...I mean...Fu" I felt a bit weird mentioning his name for the first time without adding 'Mr' but he only smiled. Picking up the menu he started going through while I waited for him to choose a meal.
"Do you remember the dishes you prepared the last time?" He asked after putting the menu down
" yes"
"Okay that's good... I'll be bringing someone with me one day and I was wondering if you could prepare the same" as soon as I heard that the first thought that came into mind was whether the person was his girlfriend
" Yh sure" i said and he smile at me again
"Okay I'll be having this then" he said pointing at a particular dish on the menu
Writing it down
"Okay I'll be back, is there anything else you need"
"No, that will be all for now" and with that i left for the kitchen
In the kitchen i went to the store room to get the ingredients needed for the dish. As i was about done cooking my mom came back
"I just spoke with Mr. Fu and he said he has given you his order,is it ready"
"Almost"
"Okay hurry up then"
After some minutes i turned the stove of and started dishing the food, taking it to him i made a mental note to apologize for keeping him waiting
" here you go.." I said as i placed the tray infront of him
"Sorry for keeping you waiting"
"Don't worry about that...by the way do you have plans of becoming a chef in future" i was quite surprised at his question
"No... I want to become a designer instead" i replied truthfully
"Okay not bad hope you're taking your studies seriously" he asked and i nodded affirmatively
"I'll be taking my leave then,please enjoy your meal" i said politely before leaving
Just then we heard a commotion outside the restaurant and i saw my mother run out probably to check what is going on.
"Mrs. Gu please calm down you said we should pay by the end of this month and the month hasn't ended yet" i could hear my mom trying to explain to our landlady
"It doesn't matter there's no difference between this week and next week so I want my money now!" Our landlady furiously said. I decided to go out and check the situation, on my way I realized Mr. Fu was on the phone so he probably hasn't heard the commotion going on outside.
"What's going on here mom."I asked when I got out and saw broken glass bottles on the ground and a drunk Mrs Gu
"Mu Ran get back inside I can handle things here"my mom said and just as I was about to turn around and leave Mrs Gu took a broken bottle from the floor and launched at me, too shocked to move in time, as she got nearer I felt a strong hand wrap around my waist and pull me from the unexpected attack I ended up hitting my back on a hard chest
"Miss I suggest you shouldn't do anything stupid in your drunken state" I heard Mr. Fu's voice right behind me.
