Lilah shifted in an attempt to get some sleep.
A ghost. She was casually just living with a ghost. Who would she even call to get rid of him though,The church? One of those palm readers?
And was he really a threat? So far all he's done is fuck with routers and...flirt? Lilah scrunches her nose at the thought.
"Am I missing something or is he really trying to flirt with me?" She whispered to the ceiling above.
Then she felt a cold presence that sent shivers pulsing like electricity through her body.
Halo.
"What the hell are you doing in my room?" Lilah hissed and covered herself with the bedding. She wasn't naked but she also wasn't dressed for confrontation.
"I live and sleep here..." Halo said, like this was basic knowledge.
"No! No you don't. Go to the garage or the basement, or better yet, go to a graveyard." Lilah struggled to breath and her curly hair clung to the sweat on her forehead. Her breathing sped up and she gasped for air that didn't seem to be in the room.
This wasn't Lilah's first panic attack, but for some reason she couldn't ground herself like before. The room grew and her vision blurred.
"Hey hey hey, it's okay I can sleep somewhere else. Just please calm down"
Halo reached his hand out and attempted to touch her shoulder but she scrambled away.
"I'll go to the basement-"
"Please leave" Lilah squeaked out like defenseless prey faced with a predator.
"I am, I'm going." Halo said, gesturing towards the door and stepping back.
"No like...leave the house. Why must you haunt me?" The woman wiped her tears with her quilted blanket and smelt her mothers love in it. She felt like a little girl scared of the shadows in her closet.
"I am unfortunately...sewn to this house" Halo's head hung and his dusty brown hair swung in his face. Lilah took a second to notice his appearance. Puffy white striped pajamas from a different era.
She realized this couldn't be easy for him.Dying and then being forced to haunt the very same place.
Lilah's voice came out hoarse
"What do you mean by sewn?"
Halo ran his fingers through his brown locks and swallowed hard.
"This may not make sense to you. But when someone dies by accident and isn't finished with their life, their ghost haunts until they finish it."
"Finish? What haven't you finished?" Lilah said, leaning closer to him.
Halo drowsily looks up at her. The longing to tell her is apparent, and on the tip of his tongue but fear of judgment stops him.
"I'll figure it out and when I do, I can leave you alone." His voice is quiet. He whispered as if the stars in the sky could hear them.
"I'll help you Halo. We'll find your purpose so you can rest in peace."
Lilah chirps, reaching out and coddling his hand.
It's cold and lifeless yet she sees life in front of her.
His eyes are warm and inviting, yet he has full intentions of shutting her out.
