Eriu smiled as Knox returned carrying a stag. He placed the carcass on the rough-hewn table and kissed her.
"What is it, mo cuishle?" he asked, for she held a secret in her gut, and as always he could see the hint of it in her eyes.
She took his hands and placed them on her stomach.
"I am with child, Knox. You're going to be a father."
Knox smiled then, and a happier, wider smile there never was.
"By the will of the Gods, I am the happiest man that ever lived," he said, and kissed her then, harder than ever before. She bit on his lip.
"Come to bed, mo gra, for the Cold Days are almost over, and I wish for you to warm my heart with the feel of you."
"Always, mo cuishle."
Eriu smiled at him, "Always, mo gra. Forever."
Knox nodded. "Forever."
