A/N: lets pretend that Kami still had long hair in '98 okay...

-2nd of July 1998, Tokyo-

You adjusted your apron on your uniform as you walked behind the cash register. It was early in the morning, about 9, your shift just started and the sunlight beamed through the large shop windows and the glass door. You rested your hands on the counter and took in the lovely scent of the coffee shop. The shop was empty and quiet. For now.

Miki, your dear coworker, walked out of the back door and stretched. "Gosh, it's so nice outside and we're stuck here." She sighed. "Our youth is slipping through our fingers!"

You laughed at that and turned around to face her. "Well that's you! I have plans, Miki, you know that. I'm not planning to rot here!" You chuckled.

"Hey, this isn't such a bad place to rot in, is it?"

You playfully rolled your eyes on her response. "Well, maybe for you." You've planned this your whole life. And now, when everything was secured, all you needed to do was wait. You're moving to America next year in June. You have a dear friend who moved to New York like 3 years ago, you finally gathered enough money to start a new life and thanks to her, it will be much easier to fit in more quickly. Finally, your own american dream. You'll live your best life and hopefully marry someone as handsome as Leonardo DiCaprio.

The bell rang as the doors opened. Customers!

"Ah- here we go again.." You sighed. Here comes another day of annoying customers, trying to either flirt or disrespect you.

You served a bunch of customers and then everything died out. Just a faint sound of people chatting and drinking their hot coffee could be heard. Every once in a while someone left, or came, but genuinely it was a really quiet day.

"Wow, it's really quiet here today isn't it?" Miki asked, you hummed in response.

It really was dead in here, not that you minded of course, you could relax more this way.

The bell rang again, the door opened and there he was, the guy who came here every single day. Ever since you started working here, you have been seeing him almost every day. Miki told you that he's been a daily customer for a pretty long time. You didn't know his name, but you and Miki called him Rapunzel, because of his long silky hair. You have never actually seen hair like that before. It really did look like Rapunzel's. His hair wasn't the only thing that stood out. He had an unique, interesting, fashion style, which suited him very well. It was really cute, he pulled off every single outfit. You became a little fan of his, b'cause of this.

"Hello." He greeted you with a sweet smile.

"Hi! The usual?" You asked. He always orders the same thing, so you just memorized it at this point. "Yeah.." he trailed off as he opened his wallet, he always paid beforehand. As the time went by, you got to know him, without actually talking to him. He was very awkward and shy, but very very nice. He really felt like a sympathetic guy. He always smiled at you, even when you could tell that he wasn't really doing well that day. Sometimes he joked around and even tried to engage in small conversations with you. You really appreciated it, it always managed to make your shift a little bit lighter and more fun.

"There you go.." His fingers brushed against yours as he gave you the money. You thanked him and he went to sit down.

You gave Miki his order. And as she was making it, your eyes scanned around the shop. Nothing out of the ordinary, just people chit chatting. Your eyes landed on mr. Rapunzel. He seemed nervous. He was fidgeting with his hands and nervously looking around. He tried to take a sneak peak at you, but when he noticed you were staring, he quickly averted his eyes back. "That's odd.." You thought to yourself as you looked away too. Miki handed you the order and you went out to hand it to him. As you placed the cup on the table he sat at, you asked out of concern.
