A/N: Let's pretend that Ukyo wasn't from a big city for the sake of this stupid story. Also ignore the fact that I didn't come up with a specific village-
-14th of August 1998, Japan countryside-
You laid your head against the window of the train you were in. Kami was stuffing both of your suitcases in the suitcase holder above you. It was really early in the morning, the warm golden sun rays were flickering on your face as the trees passed by. You heard Kami sitting down next to you.
"Are you still nervous?" He whispered, trying his best to stay as quiet as possible, due to other passengers trying to rest.
"Kind of.." You whispered back. "It still feels kinda odd to me."
After countless dates with Kami during the last month, in which all of them he was practically begging you to come with him, you gave in. You had no other plans anyway and you weren't outside of Tokyo in so long. You knew this would certainly be a fun experience, finally something different from your city life - like getting a long awaited gasp of fresh air. And on top of that.. You knew that this was probably one of your last chances to visit the Japanese countryside before you'd move. You and Kami compromised on only staying for the weekend, but still you couldn't help but to feel slightly awkward about it.
"Don't be. My mom's gonna love you."
"Still.. Don't take this personally, but I think you're taking this way too quickly."
Although, Ukyo couldn't help but to do take it personally.
"You know you didn't have to come if you didn't want to." He huffed, feeling kind of insulted.
"If I didn't want to, I wouldn't be here." You defended yourself, watching the land outside. "I just think it's odd to make me meet your family, even though we don't know each other for that long. I'd expect a couple to do that."
"Why would it be odd? You're a nice girl that I'm interested in. Why would it be weird for me to introduce you to my family? You can just take this as a fun friendly trip."
You stayed quiet for a solid moment, thinking about what he just said. "I guess you're right." You mumbled.
"Am I doing too much? You know I said that I don't like sucking up on people."
You didn't know what to tell him. You knew the problem was coming from somewhere else. "Don't think about it." You told him. A few quiet minutes passed and you couldn't help but ask. "How long is it until we get there?"
"Long enough for you to catch up on the sleep." He whispered groggily while resting his whole body against the seat.
"I'm sorry if I insulted you." You very suddenly changed the theme. You felt guilty, you could tell he was hurt by your words.
"It's fine, I get your point. I'm just really hot headed sometimes." He said, sounding very tired at this point. Even though you didn't see it, you could tell he had his eyes closed and was trying to fall asleep.
"Okay.." You smiled while closing your eyes. You snuck your hand to grasp his, intertwining your fingers. His hand was warm, like the sun that was currently shining on your sleepy face. "I will catch up on the sleep then."
***
The harsh noon sun was shining onto your backs as you two walked all the way from the train station through the whole village to get to Kami's childhood home. You were very hot and thirsty. Luckily Kami decided to be a gentleman this once and helped you carry your luggage, so you could at least breathe in this god awful weather.
