The Sewer Twins [PAUSED]

Chapter 10 - The escapade

Mikey and April arrived to the Lair and she went immediately to grab the first aid kit, the bruise on the back on Mikey's leg was looking bad and huge, he has only fate to thank for the miracle that was the fact he didn't break any bone or anything, it was the most lucky and miraculous thing that ever happened to him, he literally jumped off a three story tall building and just walked it off with just a nasty bruise, Raphael surprised them by appearing out of nowhere and yelling at them that he had been waiting for them to come home all night long but before he could really get angrier, he saw his little brother's injured leg and freaked out, his frustration became worry and concern, Raph picked him up in a panic and carried him to the kitchen.

April followed them and saw Raph pull out a package of ice from the freezer, laying Mikey down on the table and placing the ice bag over his bruise, she tried to talk with Raphael but he was too busy to care, Raph was nursing Mikey the best he could, he held the icebag against his bruise, it hurt Mikey so much that he began crying, but Raph was there to hug him and make sure he'd be alright, after a few minutes of Raph treating Mikey's wound and getting him to bed, he went straight to April for a long and well-needed chat, Casey was still there and he made sure to keep Raph calm so he wouldn't jump on April's neck for going against his wishes and getting his precious brother so badly hurt.

He scolded her relentlessly for what she did and what she put Michelangelo through, taking him to the surface late at night, putting him in danger, makinghim jump off a building and just over all putting him in harm's way, 'what if you were caught by street criminals?', 'what if he had gotten killed?', 'what if he had hit his head on the fall?', Raph yelled out at April and she just had Casey, that stepped in between them and got Raph to back off and chill down, once he was finished arguing with the girl he went to the kitchen to get a drink so he could calm down, Casey helped April pick herself up and comforted her.

Meanwhile, Michelangelo woke up because of all the screaming, he felt guilty for the situation and ended up crying after hearing his big brother so angry, he was never so angry before, he would never have to scream at someone this way if he had just said 'no' to April, this whole mess could've been avoided, and yet, here they are, he's hurt, his brother is mad, his friends are upset, and there are two psychopaths out in the surface that will probably hunt them all down, April seemed to already have a beef with them and now they probably have a bone to pick him as well, it's a matter of time before they find out about Raphael and Casey too, they will hunt them down like helpless hares hidding from angry wolves.

Mikey couldn't help but feeling anxious about the idea of going outside again and being caught by those ninja lunatics, they had swords and spears on their arsenal and there's just so... SO many ways they can hurt him and his family and friends, maybe even kill them, this is the first time he ever faced a real high stake threat, those guys were just aggressively vicious, and as much as he's surprised to find out that there was actually other mutant turtles out there, but at what cost? Was going through all this danger worth it? He had a deadly weapon pointed at him and who knows what could have happened if he didn't run away with April, who knows what could have happened to him? What could have happened to April?

For all he knew, those guys could have attacked them both and they would have ended up dead, he was so confident that he would be right, that there would be no other turtles, that he and April were just going out on a silly and pointless hang out in the New York's rooftops, and now here he was, with an injured leg, having a hard time to walk and his friend is taking all the blame, being yelled at in a way he has never witnessed before, specially from his brother, even though he could have stopped this from happening, and Mikey knows Raph would never put the weight of that mistake on his shoulder, consequences are almost out of his radar, specially considering the fact he got hurt.

Casey and April were on the living room, she was telling him about what happened and how it all went down, she was shaken and regretted what she did, she got really scared, that guy pointed a katana at her before so it wasn't the main root of her shock, but she was very much traumatized by being thrown off a building, Mikey just jumped off a deadly height with her on his arms with no regards for their lifes, she looked at death in it's eyes and felt her heart and soul leave her body as they fell, she remembers shutting her eyes tight and hugging Michelangelo for dear life like if it depended on it, and it really kind of did in the end.

If she wasn't holding him, she would have indeed fallen to her death right there and then, it was terrifying for her, and having Raph scold her so harshly, it made her feel even worse, Casey was trying his best to comfort her.
