𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐃 𝐁𝐑𝐎𝐖𝐍 𝐄𝐘𝐄𝐒 were fixated on the window, her mother's rambling going in one ear and out the other. Derived, she nodded along to whatever the woman was saying with a pinch between her brows.

It was a rather lovely view this time. Through the window, a plain grass field could be seen. It went down hill a bit further from the long table that stood by the kitchen windows. The landscape went on further, hills going up and down until they stopped by the cliff's end. And then there was the sea, open and far.

Still- no matter how pretty it was- it made Ravenna's stomach turn with distaste. The enchanted walk in closet that they used for moving houses stood by the wall, house elves disappearing in and out to decorate their new house. It was like a shell they lived in, never to be called a home. None of the houses have been a home for the past years.

Lacerta Selwyn halted in her words when she noticed her daughter was not actually listening. "Ravenna." her name cut through her thoughts like a knife, making her eyes snap towards her mother.

"I was saying that Pickie and Arto are bringing your belongings up to your room. You can unpack if you want or you can wait until you've returned from school." her mother said, standing still in the kitchen.

"I'll wait. School's tomorrow anyways. I put everything in the right trunk yesterday." Ravenna answered, her voice hoarse. From the corner of her eye she could see her mother nod before leaving the room. Ravenna listened to her retreating steps before moving towards the patio door.

She slid it open and was met with a gush of wind. She wrapped her arms around herself as she moved into her backyard. It was cold outside but she liked that. Her hair moved wildly in the wind. For a moment it felt like she could breath. It felt like her lungs had all the time in the world to fill with fresh air before letting it out again. The moment was just fleeting however. She tilted her head in his direction as she heard his footsteps.

The same cold brown eyes stared back at her as her father came to stand outside. "Go back inside." Rufius told her before looking away. He had never been good at keeping eye-contact for too long. Not with her. He could stare down an entire room filled with ministry officials but it seemed like looking in his daughter's eyes seemed to physically hurt him.

She looked at him for a moment longer, the way his eyes flickered around, over the hills and the water. She knew he was scared- not that he would ever admit that but he was. She saw it in the way his breaths fell and the way his chest moved as if someone had their hands around his lungs.
