Chapter One: Winter Break Over

The holidays are ending shortly, and it will soon be time to return to school. Most teens nowadays dread going back to school, and so do I. But I'm sure it's worse for me. I live in an old small town, and all the kids here have been together since elementary school. If I were to tell someone who doesn't live in my town that I lived in a town, they definitely wouldn't picture what I see. When I say it's a small old town, I mean it. We barely have any of the popular food restaurants you would normally see, same with stores, and gas stations. As I'm 15 and slowly ending my first year in high school, I realize how sketchy this town and my high school are. Though my high school is even worse than my town. It has been around for a long time, and whenever I tell someone I go to seacoast high school they never know where that is. This is weird for a school that again has been around for a long time.

Though my life isn't all that bad, I have my two best friend's Yusell and Gianna. We have been friends since we were babies and got along ever since. We have been there for each other whenever we needed support most and never had anything come in the way of our friendship. Except when Gianna got her first boyfriend(William), she has been dating him for two years. Ever since they started dating she has been distant, we always tell her that he's no good for her but she still wants to be with him. Every time we try to hang out with her alone he always gets possessive, it's like he doesn't trust us. But whenever Gianna isn't around he's always with other girls flirting. There's still no way we can prove to her that he's a jerk, but we can't just keep letting her get played like that.

Two weeks before we got on break there was a fight between Gianna and the cheer coach's daughter (Kaylee). Kaylee is probably the most self-centered girl you'll meet. We used to be friends with Kaylee back in middle school until she started hanging out with "that" friend group. Once she started hanging out with them she started getting in trouble left and right. Before this Kaylee was a sweet girl who didn't care about other people's thoughts. Kaylee was a part of our friend group at some point, hanging out with us every day. Once she started hanging with those girls, she was becoming less and less distant. Then when we would mention it she would get mad and change the topic or just walk away. Even though she was doing all of this she still hung out with us from time to time until she just stopped. We still don't know why she just stopped hanging out with us but even if she were to apologize, Gianna wouldn't even want to hear her out. I don't blame her, especially after the fight.

The fight started after school during cheer tryouts.

"Ok ladies line up, we are going start in 3 minutes!" Coach Venessa says, plugging her computer into the speakers.

Me and Yusell were sitting on the bleachers to cheer on Gianna during her tryout. There were a few other kids but mainly they were there for Kaylee, Jasmine, Jamey, and Naz. Those were the girls Kaylee hung out with. Jamey and Jasmine were twins, and looking at them you would think they were nice sweet teenagers, but they aren't. They are always trying to start drama around the school and bully the kids who had a hard time sticking up for themselves. Naz was the quietest one in the group, I've never seen her say something bad about someone, or once she did and immediately apologized after. This still doesn't make her any better than the rest of them, but she needs new friends.
