During class the next day Soul and Black Star weren't there.
"Hey Maka, Tsubaki where's Black Star and Soul?" I ask them as I sit down next to them.
"No idea probably skipping again." Maka says and I sigh.
"Those two idiots should just team up if they like each other so much." I say and Tsubaki shakes me.
"No that can never happen!"
"Something wrong Tsubaki?" Maka asks as Stein gets accidentally knocked over by a bump. I face palm myself.
"Maka save me!" I say shaking her.
"I've never wanted to see my dad so bad." She says and I bang my head on the desk.
"I see him all the time why do I have to see him here?" I ask while banging my head on the desk more. Stein just looks at me and smirks as I bang my head on the desk.
"Believe me it's worse when you live with him."
"Yeah you're right." Maka says.
"I hate your pops but I want to see him a lot more than him right now."
"Maka, Tsubaki where are your partners?"
"Sorry professor they're probably skipping again." Maka yells to him.
"How about you Flare?"
"I don't have one sir." I say lying without batting an eye. He nods and gives me a look saying talk to me later. I nod. And the other students start crowding around the windows.
"Professor Soul and Black Star are fighting the new kid."
"Professor in the rule book it says that fights between students can't continue unless a teacher is watching them."
"All right turn this into a study hall. Soul and Black Star's partners come with me. You too Flare." I nod and we all follow Stein out.
"I'm a bigger star than you and you know it!" we hear Black Star yelling at Kid. We watch as Star and Soul fail at fighting and Stein gives Maka a lesson about souls. I sit down knowing it'll be a while. They keep fighting and once it's done Kid falls over with a nose bleed because his hair's unsymmetrical.
"He's so lame in certain ways." I say looking at Kid as Maka and Tsubaki get Soul and Star. I start to follow them back inside and Stein says "Oh no not you, Flare." I flinch and stop.
"Keep lying like that and you'll get in trouble Flare." He says
"Then what should I say. That you're my partner. I mean it's a huge honor that the great Stein himself is my Meister but still it's unfair to the other students knew that. They'd all be pissed."
"Haha true. Maybe you should say you don't have a Meister but my point was how you lied. I am truly impressed. But just watch who you lie to. I'm serious if you lie like that to everybody I'm afraid you'll end up winding you're own labyrinth around you."
"I know professor believe me I know." I say looking into his eyes which I rarely ever do. I can almost never meet another human's eyes.
"Speaking from experience are we?"
"I might be but I'm an unnatural person so lying comes naturally to me. I don't understand myself. I'm really quite a terrible person." I say showing a little bit of the hell inside my head.
"Geeze if we deal with a kishin you might go insane."
"Oh like you won't." I say smiling.
"Believe me I can deal with my inner madness, but you're just a kid."
"I'll deal with it." I say.
"Hmm are you sure?"
"Yes. My determination and stubbornness will always win out. And you made that sound like a challenge so that'll keep me from going mad. Though I'll probably enjoy the madness if I do grow mad." He just smiles.
