It's getting cold now, I assume even the deserts would be cold now, oh what those things are doing to this place, it seems that what was once a flourishing is all dead, corrupted by these foreign things. We don't know where they came from, maybe it was the outsider's fault, maybe they brought them here?

But I guess it didn't matter now anyways, they were here to stay until we could plunge a dagger right through its heart and get rid of it once and for all but it was a long path ahead of us, we needed help from the great powers on the other side of the great divide first, and to do that we need to eliminate the connection between the two but that's where we're going, it'll be the spark the starts the fire.

We finally were ready do to it now, I lifted myself and Elli up. We geared up, me with the rifle and revolver, a gas mask, my compass and the bayonet I'd taken from that soldier earlier. I wore my jacket and hood with the balaclava. Elli grabbed the explosive ore and put it in my bag.

"Strike it with a metal, shooing it works" she said to me and I nodded. After that we were on our way to the centre, now the traveling got worse as it went on, I put my gas mask on as we saw the flowers in the distance, even looking at them made me a little sleepy as weird as it sounds.

Eventually in the distance we were able to see what looked like a forest, when we got closer I realized that it was made of flesh, horrific isn't it.

The forest was full of those horrendous nasties but Elli knew that if I was close to her they wouldn't notice me, if you haven't noticed by now Parasites usually ignore the forsaken.

The walk was especially frightening when I almost stepped on a corpse that was embedded in the ground, almost as if it had been half absorbed. It was rotting.

After what seemed like hours of walking, hours of worry about if we had enough filters or if they would pounce at me we had finally made it to the core, it was horrendous but in an almost beautiful way, this massive pumping red organism almost like a heart, I was drawn to it, but I ignored it; I threw the ore onto the ground nearby the heart and raised my revolver, before I pulled the trigger Elli turned to me.

"Once we do this, there's a very slim chance we're getting out, they won't care that I'm infected anymore."

I gave her a nod and raised my gun at the ore before pulling the trigger, at first nothing happened, and then a bright blinding light filled my view; causing me to raise my arms in front of my face, and then I was hit with the blast, sending me to the ground onto my back, I heard a massive bang and what sounded like fire, the very ground was shaking so we'd clearly done something.

With the we heard a loud roar, not from the heart but the surrounding forest, I was on my feet at a moments notice and grabbed Elli, who was also on the ground and began dragging her out of there, at that point I knew we wouldn't get our of there, I saw hoards of the things, some spider like and others humanoid, the very tree's looked enraged. The first thing that happened was I felt Elli being dragged out of my grasp, it was a somewhat humanoid thing that had snuck up behind me, I raised by weapon and fired a bullet into its head before I was grabbed from behind and the weapon was flung out of my reach, my rifle was torn off of me and I pulled out my bayonet to stab at whatever was attacking me, after dealing with that creature I turned to see Elli's torso torn open by what looked like a spider, she wasn't moving, there was no saving her now. I couldn't comprehend it, moments ago I had her and just like that she was dead, I heard a roar behind me and before I could turn to look at it the thing had pounced on me, I again stabbed it in the neck, or what it had of one and threw it to the side of me, I quickly tore my bag off my back and threw it to the ground, grabbing a flare from it and lighting it, just like that they all backed up and I got a good look at the creatures, the first thing I did was rush over to Elli's lifeless corpse and as expected she was dead, there was nothing left of where they'd started tearing into her. After all the time I spent with her it was soul crushing, but right now as much as my stomach wrenched there was no time to sit here and mourn, I need to leave if I'm even able too at all, it was dark, darker then before we cut the link. I went over to the bag and picked it back up, hold some flares before grabbing my revolver. I then walked over to Elli and grabbed her body, I need to give her a proper burial, after what she's done for me it's the least she deserves. I strapped the flare to my chest along with the others, I made sure my revolver was loaded and started moving through this place, I can't call it a forest. She was bleeding all over me as I continued moving, with my flare going out I lit the second one, I had one more after this. It was almost never ending, I saw creatures everywhere I looked. The second one went out, I was starting to doubt I'd make it. I lit the third but not long after I could tell it was dying, I put Elli's corpse up against a tree, and to my horror she got up, it wasn't her though; some thing was in control, but looking at her face or what remained of it made it hard for me to just pull the trigger, so I took my shot and landed one right through her head, I wasn't going to make it out of here, I leaned against the tree that she got up from and looked at my revolver, I didn't know whether to make it quick or put up a fight, I decided to put up a fight.

I stood up with my revolver in my hand, I looked at my Compass one last time, the one that belonged to my father, maybe I wanted to leave not because I was bored but because I wanted to live up to his name.

As the flare went out I shot into the crowd, the good thing about having this many enemies to kill is that you'll never miss a target, but after unloading my gun I was swarmed, pinned to the ground by a uncountable amount of creatures, I swung at their necks or whatever I could reach but I felt myself being torn apart limb from limb, I saw my own guts and before I knew it my head was torn off completely
