The Doctor and Donna stood in front of me.
'We got your message three minutes ago,' the Doctor said, before adding, 'She's a beautiful girl, isn't she?' He was stroking the blue box. I stood there, eyes still fixed on the odd pair, my mind distracted from the girl in the mirror.
'I sent that message for help three years ago,' is all I could manage to say.
Donna gave the Doctor a confused look before she blurted out, 'No, you didn't.'
'Donna, it's time travel. Things get...mixed up.' Though the Doctor looked fairly unsure of what he was saying, he gave me a quick smile before taking a couple of jumps out of the blue box. His eyes scoured my room for what I supposed was the mirror. Once his eyes laid upon it, he froze.
'Darcy, step back.'
Why? I wanted to ask. However, I took a step back from the mirror.
'Donna, you too.' Donna was staring right at the girl in the mirror. She turned around, trying to find the girl who was never there - never outside the mirror.
'But, Doctor?' Donna stuttered, 'How can that girl be in the mirror and not outside here?' Her voice began to tremble. 'Is that...is that a ghost? Oh god, Doctor, it is, isn't it? I mean, I thought ghosts were only made up things. You told me that once, didn't you? Oh my God... Your not saying anything, Doctor. It is a ghost isn't it? Oh my-'
'Donna, shut up. It isn't a ghost...' The Doctor assured her, before answering the question that was on everybody's minds. 'It's an alien.'
My mouth opened and shut like a fish. Weren't aliens meant to be icky slimy creatures? Ones that had no mercy?
The girl in the mirror had a little mercy, did she not? She had stopped screaming when I told her to.
'But, Doctor, she's not an alien. She's been trying to help me.' I argued.
'What did she say she'd help you with?' The Doctor asked, with furrowed eyebrows. He grabbed Darcy's shoulders. 'Darcy, this is very important. You need to tell me what she said she'd do for you.'
'Doctor, don't be so violent. He's just a child.' Donna disapproved, before taking the Doctor's place. She held my shoulders. 'Now, Darcy, just tell us what she told you.'
I stood, frozen to the ground. Should I tell them? Should I mention I was going to get her out of the mirror?
'Sh-she said that she would help me scare away the monsters under my bed and help me with the puzzle I've been working on. That was around five years ago. Then, just this year, I promised I would get her out of the mirror.'
The Doctor took one more step back from the mirror and eyed the girl. She had since retreated behind the door. Her smile had disappeared and her arms were crossed protectively across her chest.
'What do you want?' The Doctor asked the girl. She laughed.
'Doctor, again. We meet. How've you been?'
'You need to answer my question. You don't scare me.' The Doctor warned her, but the girl simply took a threatening steps forward, so that she was behind the Doctor's reflection. I could see the Doctor shiver out of the corner of my eye.
'Ha. Just like I needed to be banished to mirrors forever.' The girl retorted, before putting an ice-cold hand on the Doctor's mirror.
I could tell he was deciding whether or not to continue the girl's annoying chatter.
'Just tell me what you want.' The Doctor ordered, his patience seemingly thinning.
'How about....no?' The girl asked. Her eyes were wide in innocence, but that didn't fool me. I knew what she was capable of doing- just a scream drained all hope from you.
'How about you cooperate? If you don't... you'll regret it.'
'What will you do, Doctor? Banish me to all mirrors for another... Hmm... forever?' The girl scoffed. 'You've got nothing on me, Doctor. Not anymore.'
'That may be so. But I've got the power to bring whole universes down. I can make your life hell. Just tell me what you told the boy.'
I observed their conversation with interest. How could the Doctor bring universes down? Was that not impossible? Anyway...the Doctor had already proved he was impossible. Travelling in a blue box- time travelling, might I add.
The girl merely rolled her eyes.
'You know what, Doctor? I want to get out of here. More than anything. I just want out.'
Just as the girl said this, a high pitched squeal came from her mouth. The Doctor, who was ill-prepared, immediately covered his ears with his hands. Donna did the same.
'Get out!' yelled the Doctor to us. We didn't need much convincing.
