In a world were you think everything will be great, because your school soccer team would be going to nationals in October, but then your dad gets shot, then the fucking dead rises. Welcome to my life, my name is Nyra Grimes and this is my story. Here's some context, My dad was a cop and he got shot on the job while me and my little brother, Carl were at school, then the dead started walking, and his best friend, Shane got me, my brother, and my mother, Lori to safety. My best friend is Shane's daughter, Alison Walsh. Me and Alison have been friends since birth almost.

Now to present time, we were sitting in the camp as Amy, a blonde hair girl around 20, and a older man named dale hear a voice offer the radio, it sounded like some one I knew but I couldn't pin point it..

"Hello? Hello? Can anybody hear my voice?" the male voice called out.

Amy answered the call, "Hey? Hello?" who could this voice be.. I thought...

"Can you hear my voice?" The voice asked again.

"Yes, I can hear you. You're coming through. Over." Amy said to the voice.

"Anybody who reads, please respond. Broadcasting on emergency channel. We'll be approaching Atlanta on Highway 85. Anybody reads, please respond." The voice called out over the radio.

"We're just outside the city. Dammit. Hello? Hello? He couldn't hear me. I couldn't warn him." Amy told dale, who just walked over.

Dale motions Shane to come over, "Try to raise him again. Come on, son. You know best how to work this thing," Dale said.

Shane walked over, "Hello, hello, is the person who calls still on the air? This is officer Shane Walsh, broadcasting a person unknown, please respond... He's gone."

I walk over, a bit carious about the voice, "Did he say his name?"

"No.." Shane answered.

My mom started to speak, "There are others. It's not just us." she makes a good point.. At least there are others and not just us.

"Yeah, We knew there would be, right, that's why we let the CB on." Shane replied.

"Lots of good it's been doing. And I've been saying for a week, we ought to put signs up on 85 to warn people away from the city." My mom suggests.

"Folks got no idea what they're getting into," Amy says. I nod in agreement.

Shane replies, "We don't have enough time."

"I think we need to make time," My mom says, not standing down from putting the signs up on 85.

Shane replied, "Yeah, that, uh... That's a luxury we can't afford. We are surviving here. We are day to day."
