When I wake up, I'm not sure what time it is, and my body feels rested, but also more weak.

My mind is still foggy, but I turn around to look at my clock. 6:45 PM.
I go upstairs and stumble into the kitchen. On the fridge there's a note left by my mom.
Had to run some errands. Will be back around 8.

So I could go to Yanic's house. If I was careful, of course. I was hungry, so I made a chicken sandwich, grabbed my phone and swung on my backpack.

I didn't have much time, so I tried to walk as fast as I could while eating without looking suspicious. Mom was real close with some of our neighbors.

I arrived at Yanic's family's house and jumped the fence into their backyard. I could see his room's window, but he didn't see me. I needed to get his attention. Throwing a rock would be dangerous, so I would need to throw something lighter, like a stick. I found a short stick and threw it at his window. Yanic jumped at the sound and turned his head to face me.
His expression was confused but glad.

I wave at him and he points his finger at me, as to say 'wait here for a minute'. When he comes back, I see that he has his laptop with him. He opens it and starts typing. Then, I get a notification on my phone.

Yanic: can't talk rn. i'll be back at school tmrw.

That's sooner than I thought. Okay, I text back. Then I start walking back to my house to get there before my mom comes back.

The next day at school, fewer people are whispering, but the jocks seem to notice that Yanic is back.

I see Jensen, and quickly look away, but he's already seen me. Shit. He smiles and waves at me.

"What's his problem??" Yanic says angrily.

Then he walks over to Jensen.

"Hey, fatass." Jensen looks more scared now. "You got us in trouble."

"I- I, well I was just-" he starts.

"Shut up." He kicks Jensen's legs. "Oh, they're so fat!" He yells, laughing.

The jocks notice and come to Jensen's rescue. I also go, and tell Yanic to stop.

"Yanic, stop." I tell him. Jensen looks at me gratefully.

"Are you seriously defending him?" Yanic shoots back.

One of the jocks tap on Yanics shoulder. Yanic's expression goes cold. Yanic backs off and I quickly follow him.

In class, people keep on giving us dirty looks, whispering.

I take a look at Yanic and see him leaving in a rush.

Was he.. crying?
