Moment's Earlier -
"There's always a chance the worst could happen." - Kuroi
"You two are much faster than me so, go on ahead! Hurry and catch up to Riko's side." - Kuroi.
She asks us urgently. We didn't think clearly..we assumed Kuroi would be fine so we listened to her and ran to find Riko and Gojo.
"I'm sorry..this is my mistake." - Geto Suguru
"No! Geto, I should've stayed behind with Kuroi, I could've protected her and caught up with you, Gojo and Riko after." - Y/N
Guilt. Anger. Annoyance. I feel awful. I don't deserve to be here. Something else is happening and I need to figure it out quickly.
I go quiet after and start thinking back from the start.
Gojo and Geto are talking as I am thinking deeply about our situation.
We head to our assigned locations. Two major groups are after Riko. They want Tengen-sama dead..right?, get rid of the vessel, Tengen-sama can't assimilate. We fight off Group Q. Star religious group is nowhere to be seen. Riko is safe for an hour or so. Two unknowns appear. A bounty is suddenly placed on Riko..a bounty..?
"Really, I don't think this counts as a mistake." - Gojo Satoru
"I underestimated how much our enemies would value Kuroi." - Geto Suguru. He confesses.
"Someone else is still looking for Riko Amanai." - Y/N. I say out loud in serious tone.
This grabs Gojo and Geto's attention. They listen to me explain.
"The bounty, it was placed by another outsider. It could be Star religious group, we haven't fought them yet or somebody else entirely." - Y/N
"Their next move might be an exchange, Riko for Kuroi or it might be a trap because of the bounty on Riko." - Gojo Satoru
Riko is quietly listening in our discussion, and what our next plan of action should be. She's visibly worried about Kuroi, hoping she isn't hurt.
I sit next to her, quietly taking her hand. I smile to reassure her.
"Riko, we'll get her back. I promise you. I just need you to believe in us 3, we will protect both of you and bring Kuroi home." - Y/N
Riko has tears forming. She eases as I comfort her.
"We have the leverage, we have Riko Amanai." - Gojo Satoru
Gojo explains to us as long as they give us the location for the exchange, we can make it work and get Kuroi back while protecting both of them.
He suggests Shoko or someone else who might be available to stand in as a body double for Riko but Riko is clearly uncomfortable with that plan and speaks up.
"HOLD ON! , I'm going to the exchange, I still don't trust you two yet.." - Riko
"HUUHH?!, you're still saying that after all this, you Brat-" - Gojo Satoru
"BUT- I will since Y/n asked me too, however I'm going with you." - Riko
"Even if you do manage to save her..what if Kuroi isn't back before I assimilate with Tengen-sama?" - Riko
This poor girl is so stressed. She's thinking about Kuroi's well-being, even though she's about to be written out of existence..who knows, even after the assimilation that she will have her memories with Kuroi..
Her voice starts to break, she's held in her worry for Kuroi since she got that message..
"I haven't...I still haven't said goodbye to her yet..she deserves a Goodbye from me, and I will not have you stop me from doing so.. so please.." - Riko
She's crying..
I slowly stand up, like she was made of glass I try my best to be careful with her. I wipe her tears, and pull her into a hug. She grabs onto me and quietly sobs into my chest. I pat her head softly, trying to calm her.
I almost started crying myself but I hold it in. Not here. I will not cry here. I have to be strong. I will help Riko. We will and can help her.
It's quiet between us, we can only hear Riko's quiet sobs. Gojo's footsteps can be heard approaching us.
"The kidnappers will reach out to us eventually. If they seem like they're smarter than we expect, and bring you with us is likely to hurt Kuroi's chance of survival...then we leave you behind." - Gojo Satoru

What..did I just hear from him. I froze in place not believing what I just heard.
Riko let's go of me and looks straight at Gojo with determination. I turn to look at him as well.
"Alright, that works for me." - Riko. She says seriously.

"In exchange, if you get scared partway through and want to go home, we will just simply ignore you." - Gojo Satoru
