It's easy to get bored in school. That's an understatement sorry, it's impossible not to get bored in school. It's like the teachers don't want you to pay attention with all their rambling and stupid detailed stories of their personal life. In almost every single one of my classes I could get away with not paying attention. After all I sat at the back of class, I hardly ever spoke and most of the time I did fine on my tests. There was just one class where you couldn't get away with anything.
"Ms. Kessler!" Shouted Mrs. Anderson from the front of the classroom locking her old eyes on me in a quick, sharp movement. "Day dreaming is for Art class not Literature."
Mrs. Anderson always caught me. I can't believe anybody was married to the old lady. She had baggy pale skin and faded grey hair that was always up in a tight bun with loose frayed grey hair falling on the sides. She slouched over always and she could barely see out of her glassy eyes. There was a senior four years back who was rumored to almost have skipped class because he stood in her blind spot but he got caught before one whole minute. Nobody could skip Anderson's class, she would definitely catch you.
"Just for that you can read the next section of Romeo and Juliet please!" Mrs. Anderson said turning away from me. The class turned to their books. Come on, I can do this. It shouldn't be this hard to read one little section in this book.
Thank god just as I was about to start reading the usual late arrival walked in. The one person Mrs. Anderson hated more then me. Luke Hemmings. He was tall. Really tall. He was easily picked out in a crowd because he had blue hair and I didn't mean like frosted tips that were blue I mean his hair was a mix between the color blue and purple. He was attractive enough I guess but he had been held back so he was a year older then me. Not to mention his birthday was close to the start of school so he was already a year behind. He was 19 now and with his failing grades it didn't seem like he was going to pass anyway. Luke's face had this two black rings on his eyebrows and nose ring that pointed out of his nostrils. He had a lip ring on his lower left lip not to mention his snake bites, large black gauge earrings or many tattoos. He sat down to seats ahead of me and Mrs. Anderson held up her hand for me to wait to start reading.
The classes' attention was now on Luke and I felt a weight lift off my shoulders as in knew what would come next. Luke was so calm and collected as he didn't even look up from his backpack as he pulled his Lit book and binder out. He sat them on a desk and he leaned over to kid next to him. His voice broke the silence as he asked for the page number and the kid next to him was still obviously frightened of him even after sitting next to him for two weeks now. He said the page numbers and his frantic eyes flashed to Mrs. Anderson but she was too focused on the blue-eyed punk who was now flipping to the described page number. Mrs. Anderson crossed her arms and tapped her foot.
"Mr. Hemmings, can we start class yet?" She asked, irritated.
"Excuse me Mrs. Anderson but I think you mean may we start class yet." Luke stated matter-of-factly. He gave a smug grin to the teacher and leaned back in his chair being seemly at ease.
"Well if you know so much maybe you should teach class." She replied sarcastically back through gritted teeth. She made a motion towards the right of her and stepped to her left. It was easy to tell she was kidding with how she was talking but Luke was always up for making fun of Mrs. Anderson.
"Okay class today we will be reading Boreo and drooliet," Luke started as he stood up and started pacing the classroom just as Mrs. Anderson always did. He slumped over in an exaggerated fashion to make fun of her. He slammed his hands on a kid's desk. "Are you paying attention?! The answer is that this book was written after I was born!"
That line earned a snicker from the class but Mrs. Anderson would have none of this. She marched up to her desk and grabbed the black phone dialing a number and glaring at Luke.
