You let out a long and sad sigh as you came to the terms that Levi was likely not into you and was in a romantic relationship with Erwin. You’d spent a lot of time with Levi and things were going well, then he suddenly was around Erwin all the time and you were left in the dark.
You counted your losses and accepted defeat, but you would always hold Levi in your heart. You pouted a little and noticed Jean walk past and kick up dirt as he went. “Jean?”
Jean stopped and looked over and shouted your name. “Hi.” He walked over. “Are you okay?”
You hummed. “Accepting heartbreak, you?”
He rubbed the back of his neck and looked over at Mikasa chasing Eren around. “Same.”
You looked over at Mikasa. “Damn, that’s a painful love right there.”
Jean hummed. “She’ll never see me.”
You patted the wall you were sitting on. “Join me.”
He looked up at you. “Oh, uhh are you sure? I don’t want anyone getting funny about us being friends again.”
You smiled. “It’s okay. I’ve asked you to join me. We both know we’re friends, so screw everyone else.”
He hummed, then climbed up and sat. “I just don’t want to get into trouble.”
You hummed a laugh. “You won’t.”
Jean smiled. “We should head into town at some point for lunch. We haven’t done that in a while.”
“That’s if you don’t mind being seen with an old fart like me.”
He laughed. “You’re not that old!”
You groaned. “I feel old with all these young cadets coming in.” You pouted. “Can’t believe how young you are.”
Jean smiled. “I guess I am young.”
You hummed. “You have your whole life ahead of you Jean. This was one love that went bad.”
He groaned. “I know, but she’s my dream woman.”
You patted his back. “Poor Jean.”
“Got any wise words for me, oh dear squad leader friend of mine?”
You opened and closed your mouth. “No. Sorry, I’m all out. I know I’m like a mum to you all, but I am all out now.”
Jean smirked. “Can’t believe it. You’ve let me down, squad leader.”
You made a sick noise. “Don’t call me squad leader. I feel like an old lady.”
“You just said you are one.”
You groaned loudly. “Kids these days.”
Jean shook his head as he smirked. “How you became a leader I don’t know.”
“I’ve got a nice smile.”
“You do.” He let out a long sigh. “Who are you in love with?”
You watched Levi walking with Erwin across the training grounds. “Someone who’s impossible to love.”
He looked over at where you were staring. “Commander?”
You laughed. “No, no I’m not interested in eyebrows.”
He blushed. “The Captain? Really? But he’s so cranky and cold.”
You hummed a laugh. “You don’t know him like I do. He’s rather sweet behind closed doors. Like I don’t know fully what Mikasa’s like.”
