[SAM'S POV, LAST NIGHT]

colorful lights and blarring music filled the apartment, a large crowd of hormonal young adults dancing and partying like it was their last day on earth. i didn't care about that. i didn't care about anything, actually, because colby hadn't answered my texts in almost two days. it was clearly unlike him. he was fine the day before, so something must've happened.

i shove past everyone. it smelled like straight BO. i almost suffocated, and I'm not even exaggerating. deodorant exists, guys.

sprinting upstairs, my eyes scan the hallway. i really don't wanna walk in on anyone, but this is an emergency. i begin opening doors, apologizing for each one i open because if i were the guy on the other side, I'd be scarred for life. i stop at the end of the hallway.

it sounds like bloody murder from the way this guy is screaming inside the room. there's lots of pounding on the walls, and then the screaming stops, and.. he lets out a sob. i could recognize his voice anywhere, no matter what.

"fuck, i can't do this....." he repeats over and over, making my heart sink down to my feet. a knot grew in my stomach. i couldn't help but feel curious, cracking the door open a tiny bit, and then i saw him. colby's curled up on the floor, his face in his hands as he literally bawled his eyes out. this hurt to watch. the person i adore and love most is feeling the worst feelings you can feel, and there's nothing i can do.. but his eyes meet mine through the crack of the door.

i run as fast as i can, and leave. ill definitely be bringing this up.
