Jeongin had been scrolling through his social media feed when he saw a series of pictures that made his heart sink.
Seungmin's girlfriend, someone who had been a part of their lives for a while now, appeared on a video. She was kissing someone.
But that someone, wasn't Seungmin.
With his heart racing, Jeongin quickly saved the pictures and grabbed his jacket.
He knew he had to find Seungmin and tell him about this. It was a tough decision, but he believed in the strength of their friendship and knew that Seungmin deserved to know the truth.
He rushed to Seungmin's apartment and knocked on the door, his heart pounding in his chest. When Seungmin opened the door, confusion etched across his face, Jeongin took a deep breath.
"Seungmin, there's something I need to show you," he said, his voice steady despite the storm of emotions inside him.
Jeongin handed his phone to Seungmin, who furrowed his brows as he looked at the pictures.
The color drained from Seungmin's face, his eyes widening as he realized what was happening in them.
"What... What is this?" he stammered, his voice barely above a whisper.
Jeongin placed a hand on his shoulder, offering his support. "I'm so sorry you had to see this, Seungmin. I thought you should know."
Seungmin's hands trembled as he scrolled through the images, his heartache evident in every movement.
"Was I not enough for her..?" he mumbled, his voice filled with disbelief and hurt.
Jeongin cooed. "Absolutely not Minnie, don't you even think that. You deserve someone who will treat you right."
Tears welled up in Seungmin's eyes as he looked at I.N. "What do I do now?" he whispered, his voice breaking.
Jeongin took a deep breath, his determination unwavering. "You break up with her. You deserve better, Seungmin. And I'll be right here with you every step of the way."
Seungmin nodded slowly, his grip on the phone tightening. "You're right.."
Over the next few hours, Seungmin composed a heartfelt text message, ending his relationship with his now-ex girlfriend.
Jeongin offered his encouragement, reminding him that he deserved happiness and respect. As the message was sent, a weight seemed to lift from Seungmin's shoulders, replaced by a newfound sense of freedom.
"Thank you, Innie," Seungmin said, his voice laced with gratitude. "I don't know what I would have done without you."
Jeongin smiled warmly. "That's what friends are for, Minnie. Now, how about we celebrate your fresh start?"
Seungmin raised an eyebrow. "Celebrate? I'm not really in the mood for that."
Jeongin grinned mischievously. "Come on, just a few drinks. It'll help take your mind off things."
After a bit of convincing, Seungmin reluctantly agreed. They headed to a local convenience store, picking up a couple of bottles of soju. They settled on a park bench, the night air cool against their skin as they popped open the bottles and raised them in a toast.
"To new beginnings," I.N proclaimed, clinking his bottle against Seungmin's.
Seungmin managed a small smile. "To new beginnings."
As they shared stories and laughter, the weight of Seungmin's recent heartbreak seemed to lighten.
The soju helped to ease their worries, and soon, their conversations flowed freely. Jeongin found himself feeling more comfortable than ever around Seungmin, their friendship deepening with each passing moment.
At some point, they both leaned back, staring up at the starry sky. Jeongin's heart raced as he looked at Seungmin, his emotions swirling in a confusing mix.
And before he could fully comprehend what he was doing, he turned towards Seungmin and pressed his lips against his friend's.
The moment was filled with a mixture of surprise and uncertainty, but to Jeongin's astonishment, Seungmin didn't pull away.
Instead, Seungmin's lips met his in a soft, tentative kiss, and a rush of emotions flooded through Jeongin. It was as if time had frozen, the world around them fading away as they shared that unexpected connection.
When they finally pulled apart, their gazes locked, both of them breathing heavily. Jeongin's heart raced, his mind a whirlwind of thoughts. He hadn't expected this turn of events, but he didn't regret it either.
Seungmin's cheeks were tinged with a soft blush, his eyes filled with a mix of surprise and something more. "Innie..."
Jeongin's voice was barely above a whisper. "Seungmin, I..."
Seungmin leaned in, pressing his lips against Jeongin's once more. This time, the kiss was more confident, more certain.
It was a silent understanding between them, a moment that spoke volumes.
As they pulled away, Seungmin's lips curled into a genuine smile. "I guess this is another new beginning, huh?"
Jeongin's heart swelled with happiness. "Yeah, I guess it is."
And so, the two looked up to the sky again, with their finger being now intertwined with each other.
Although they might still be drunk, they'll talk it trough tomorrow.
