Chapter 3 - Eikthyr

"We're on the right track. We will get there.", Angus said, exhausted. Wind blowing on the trio of survivors, rain flooding down, the survivors have been walking for days. They're hungry, terrified and unsure where they are. After they continued embarking on their tiring adventure, the survivors seemed to have found their goal. "Th- That's it, look it's th- it's the alter." Angus shouted, filled with joy. On the way Ruben and Alaric did just as Angus requested and they got the deer heads. Angus, grabbed the heads, ordered the duo to stay back until he finishes what he came here to do. Alaric and Ruben, still confused as to why Angus wanted to come here. You could hear Angus whispering, but the whispering starts getting louder. He had placed the deer heads onto the alter. He split open one of the heads and put the blood onto his hands and his whispering was no longer whispering as his voice started getting louder and louder. Wind started howling in the area, Alaric and Ruben still confused, started calling Angus' name. Angus, ignoring them, continues his ritual. Until, everything stopped, the wind stopped, the chanting stopped. Angus looked at the other survivors and told them, "Prepare." Each member grabbed their sword and waited. Problem was no one had a clue to what they were waiting for. They started hearing rumbling and tussling in the woods, branches braking and suddenly everyone was looking in the same direction.

It was terrifying. Sent by the Gods they said. Antlers, bigger than half the forest, destroying everything in its path. Red bright eyes, smoke coming out of its nose, torso created by the seven Gods. Angus unleashed the first strike, an arrow right between its eyes. It looked at the survivors, enraged, resentful, started walking towards the survivors, with one intent, killing them all.  Alaric was not the most calm person as he spread panic across the other members with his constant winging and fear which does not help the rest of the members. Angus tried to calm Alaric because he feared that his consternation could prove to be just what the beast wants to see. The beast stares straight into Ruben, the survivor terrified as he realizes that the beast has identified him as his next target. The beast charges towards him, destroying everything in its path, grazes Ruben's side. Ruben, down injured, trying his best to hide. Alaric, looks towards Angus and says "Hand me the bow, I know what we have to do", "I got this" Angus replied. "Hand it to me or we are not getting out of this." Angus anxiously hands him the bow. Alaric seemed to have outlined a weakness in the beast. He readies the bow, aims, shoots, misses. "We have to hit its heart, the arrow will pierce through it will bring him down" Alaric discusses his plan with the others. Ruben, still down injured hoping, praying that they get out of this. Angus seemed to have been starstruck and he had no idea what to do. He had given up, the moment he gave the bow to Alaric he gave up. It was up to Alaric to save the survivors. He readies the bow again, aims, shoots, misses. Alaric was never the best shot but he had to hit the beast's heart or they're dying here. Angus, without saying a word gets out from his safe place. Jumping in front of the beast, taunting him to get his attention. The beast looked him right into the eyes and he was ready to charge. "Shoot now!" Angus shouted. Alaric readies the bow, aims, shoots, pierces his heart and the beast fell. The beast had been slayed. Angus, joyful, shouting in joy, "We did it, we slayed Eikthyr!"

He pulled apart a small part of his antlers, surprisingly, this magnificent beast vanished, as if he was never there. Ruben still injured says, "What now? We slayed the beast and the beast disappeared." Alaric and Ruben both looking at Angus to see what the next move is. Angus places the antler part on the alter and suddenly the antler floats into the air and pierces all three men. "We now have the power of Eikthyr." Angus said as they are now ready to return home.
