The office of Albus Dumbledore was filled with an eerie silence as Y/N stood resolute, his eyes locked with Fudge's. Caym stood by his side, staring menacingly at the wizard who had brought him into this world to murder a child. The wolf's eyes glinted, and his presence was a horrible reminder for Fudge.
"You, boy!" Fudge spat, his voice filled with venom. "Out of my way! And move that creature too!"
Y/N shook his head slowly, "Not until I've permitted it, Minister, you and I have some things to settle."
Fudge's anger flared, his fists clenched in rage. 'There's nothing to settle! I've had it with you and your little games..."
As Fudge had spoken, he had drawn his wand slowly, taking it from the inside of his robes. Y/N's eyes trailed to Caym, who growled and sent the wand flying into the wall on the other side of Dumbledore's office before Fudge could even react.
"You can keep denying the truth," Y/N continued, Fudge's eyes trailed with abstract horror to his wand that was now sparking, lodged into the wall, "but Voldemort is back. I'd have hoped Harry's interview in the Quibbler would have helped you understand... But just for reassurance I agreed to add my own tale. My own quarrel, so to speak. It's funny, isn't it Minister? Just how powerful words really are."
Fudge sputtered with sheer fury, "your own quarrel? I think the fact that your father is a mass murderer should speak for itself! I care about my position! My reputation! And you're going out of your way in an attempt to ruin it!"
Y/N's voice dripped with distain. "Your position and reputation will mean nothing when the darkness comes. You're failing, Minister. You've been failing for a long time."
Fudge's face contorted, unable to maintain the facade of ignorance any longer, not with Y/N's evident unwavering determination and the Elemental thing that stood next to him, looking as though he was ready to eat him whole.
"You, boy, don't understand the politics of this world. There are powers at play that you can't begin to fathom."
Y/N's expression turned icy. "And you don't understand that, some point soon, everything around you will crumble, and when the time comes? People will stand together against the darkness, with or without you."
With a bitter laugh, Fudge began to pace in front of Y/N and Caym. "Oh, you've always been a thorn in my side, Lynx. A constant reminder of my 'mistakes'. You and that beast you've become entangled with."
Caym's eyes flashed with an eerie, electric light, and he growled softly, his gaze never once leaving Fudge.
"Despise me all you want, Minister... it'll feel so much more rewarding when I kick you off the edge."
Fudge took a step closer to Y/N, his voice lowering, "and what about Umbridge? Was what you did to her 'kicking her off the edge?' Because what you did to her- that's on your hands as well."
Even the mention of Umbridge's name sent a shiver down his spine. His confrontation with Umbridge had been... eventful. But she had been the one who had taken Lauren, he had done what was necessary to protect her.
"She used my sister as leverage," Y/N said, his voice cold, "I'd do it again in a heartbeat."
Fudge's face reddened even more, if that was possible, "Your reckless actions, your defiance of me... These will be your downfall, Lynx. Mark my words."
Caym spoke with a deep and resonant voice that took Fudge aback, "Threaten him or his family again, and I promise you I'll tear your throat from your neck just as you had me attempt to do to this boy nearly fifteen years ago."
