Y/N's eyes slowly flickered open against the sunshine and bright lights in the Hospital Wing. His vision was blurry but that was to be expected. He had previously incinerated his glasses thanks to that Boggart.
When his eyes had finally adjusted to the light, he could just about make two figures near his bed. The first one he knew almost instantly, the flowing blonde hair of Lauren would stand out a mile away. She was sat next to him in an arm chair, reading a book. The other figure was slightly more difficult to make out, but realised who it was once he spoke.
"Your brother reminds me of someone I once knew." said Professor Lupin, smiling fondly in memory. Lauren closed her book.
"Who?" she asked curiously.
"An old friend of mine. I believe you know his son quite well, Harry Potter?"
"You were friends with Harry Potter's dad?!"
Lupin smiled once more.
"That would explain the fondness you show for him." Y/N said groggily as he sat upright.
"Y/N!" squealed Lauren, jolting up out of her seat and pulling him into a hug.
"Quite" said Lupin, "Y/N, what can you remember from my class?"
Y/N thought back, he had no clue how long he had actually been out cold for, a few hours maybe? He could remember clearly what had happened. The Boggart turning into Caym as though he was released and tried to finish what he started, he remembered chanting Sol Rupis and it actually working successfully without the Elemental's help... He remembered Professor Lupin grabbing him before he hit the floor.
"Everything." he said quietly, "I'm sorry, has anyone seen Madam Pomfrey? I might need some new glasses."
"Oh!" said Lauren, reaching into her robes and pulling out a set, "she gave these to me when I walked in, and I asked her to put that anti-mark spell so you stop moaning."
"Great, thanks Lozz." he put the glasses on and he could see clearly once more, completely spotless.
"I remember everything, Professor" said Y/N, returning his attention to Lupin's first question, "I didn't think my Boggart would turn into him."
"Well of course it would" said Lupin, "it tried to kill you."
"He" said Y/N, "He tried to kill me, his name is Caym. And it was a Boggart, it wouldn't actually be able to do much damage."
"Indeed, even so, that spellcasting of yours is quite remarkable... Naturally you know that the teachers here know of your little friend."
"I had a suspicion that's one of the reasons why everyone despises me." said Y/N, stretching his arms.
"Not quite, but it's part of it" admitted Lupin, "There's a lot that you don't know and re too young to understand. However..."
Professor Lupin stood up straight and took a more authorative stance, "the irony of telling the thirteen year old that he's too young to know something and then tell the eleven year old something is quite high."
Lauren looked confused.
"Lauren" began Professor Lupin, "I mentioned earlier that I was friends with Harry Potter's father. His name was James. Professor Dumbledore has given me explicit permission to tell you this so here goes."
Professor Lupin took a deep breath.
"Lauren, I was also friends with your father, and he died a hero."
Lauren's eyes widened, this had been the last thing she had expected. Y/N was paying close attention to how she was reacting, and Lupin continued.
"As you may have heard, notorious mass-murderer Sirius Black has escape from Azkaban. The night he committed these atrocities, your father headed to confront him about something." Lupin paused, as though it was bringing back very painful memories, "Your father tried to stop him from running away, and as a result he became one of the thirteen that Sirius Black killed in one blast."
