ARIELLA AND HER brother were playing monopoly when her doorbell was rung, thomas sprung up and jogged to the door, almost knocking over the new vase their mother got.
"hey hartley!" thomas exclaimed with his high-pitched british accent, instantly grabbing ariellas attention, she got up and quickly made her way to the door to greet her friend, "hartley what are you doing here? are you okay? do you need something?" ariella asked politely.
"ariella! I'm fine!" hartley laughed, "we got new neighbors and I wanted you to come and meet them with me and my grandma!"
"i'd love to go, is it alright if thomas comes?" hartley nodded and ariella smiled, turning to her little brother, "come on thomas, we're going to meet the new neighbors!"
thomas went up to ariella and held her hand, walking with her and hartley to the house.
celia rang the doorbell a few times before the door opened, on the other side stood the family.
"oh, look, everybody. it's our landlady celia, her granddaughter hartley, and two other children that I don't know the names of." the blonde women said.
"hello, landlady celia, her granddaughter hartley, and two other children we don't know the names of." they all spoke in sync, ariella made a face on how they all talked like robots.
celia stepped forward, "your first months rent is ten bucks short."
the taller man reached into his pocket and grabbed out a twenty, "oh, sorry about that. can you break a twenty?" he asked calmly handing celia the money.
"nope." celia replied as she harshly took the money from the man.
as ariella studied the family, she took notice to how familiar they looked to her. so she took a step into the house dragging thomas along and pointed at the family.
"you guys look very familiar." ariella spoke, catching the family's attention.
"no we don't." a boy who wore a beanie spoke, ariella paused, then shrugged, "oh, okay."
"well, we were just about to start family movie night." the blonde women spoke again, trying to close the door on celia.
celia shoved her, "great. what are we watching? I love a good war movie." celia sat down on the couch while ariella, hartley, and thomas followed, all sitting down beside one another.
the man walked to the side of the couch with the rest of the family following, he spoke, "uh, on second thought, we should really get some rest. we're still adjusting to the time difference here in texas." the family all yawned dramatically.
celia stood up from the couch, "remind me where your from again."
the family all paused, then they all said a different state in usion.
the blonde women shook her head disappointingly, "we never.." she started, "stay in the same place to long."
"well, that's a red flag." celia mentioned. she held her hand out, "I'll take next months rent, too."
the man rolled his eyes reaching for some more money in his pocket to give to celia, ariella stood up, making thomas stand up too.
"you are gonna love texas." ariella smiled at the family as her british accent popped through a bit more from her excitement, "everyone's super friendly." she assured them, her smile growing a little bit.
the man laughed, "I can tell." he looked at ariella, her smile faded a little bit, but she wasn't sad, just confused. hartley spoke up, "what brought you here anyway?" she smiled, a pretty brunette teen looked at hartley, "oh, you know, we just needed a change." the girl answered.

ARIELLA SMILED as the woman came towards the door, "well, we'll have to get together another night." ariella smiled at the woman as she spoke again, "thank you." while the door was coming to a close the family behind all yelled, "bye!" and the door closed. ariella turned to hartley, "that was weird.." ariella paused, "what were their names again?" hartley shrugged, "we have to get grandma to the house before she asks for more money." hartley stated, waking with celia back to their home.
