Less than three weeks later, it was time for Robin to start rehearsal for Lynn's concerts. During that time, Robin and Babs started to become close as friends. Lynn's concerts were going to start in about a month and a half. Robin, Lynn, and the rest of her band were in the stage auditorium getting ready to rehearse. "Alright Robin," said Lynn, "You've had three weeks to learn all my songs. Let's see how good you've gotten on the drums when it comes to playing my songs." Robin gave a confident smirk and said, "I've got you covered, Lynn."
First they started with Love Rollercoaster, and then for three hours, Robin practiced with Lynn and her band, playing the drums to her songs and often providing background vocals when necessary. Lynn and her bandmates agreed, Robin was quite adequate on the drums. After finishing up the song Harleen, a clap was heard. Who was the clapper? He was a white man who had the bodybuild of a buff motorcycle dude. He had short jet black hair with a white streak at the center, dark green eyes, a scar on his left cheek, he wore a red shirt, a black leather jacket, dark jeans, and motorcycle boots. Lynn immediately recognized this handsome man. "Hey Jason!" She said with enthusiastic surprise. "Hey Lynnie," replied Jason as he pulled out a brown lunch bag. Lynn rushed over to Jason and gave him a big hug, and they followed it up with an affectionate kiss on the lips. Once the kissing ceased, Jason said, "I got you some lunch from Big Belly Burger, babe."
"Aww, you shouldn't have!" Lynn said, smiling affectionately at her boyfriend. "Well you can't rehearse on an empty stomach," said Jason. Robin wandered over to Lynn and Jason. "Oh, where are my manners," said Lynn, "Jason, this is the new drummer I was telling you about, Robin Warner. Robin, this is my boyfriend Jason Todd." Robin shook Jason's hand and said, "hello! Nice to meet you." Jason smirked and said, "nice to meet you too Robin. At last, the mystery of Lynn's new drummer is solved. She wasn't kidding about you being a toon." Robin looked up at Jason and said, "well it's nice to finally meet the person Lynn and Babs kept telling me about. You're pretty tall. Hey Lynn, how's it feel to have a guy who looks up to you for once?" Lynn laughed, "it feels pretty empowering to be honest."
"I was actually going through my growth spurt when Lynn and I started dating," said Jason, "she's remained the same height since." Lynn playfully rolled her eyes and said, "oh you." Robin looked up at Jason and asked, "so do you attend Lynn's concerts?" Jason shrugged and said, "as many as I can. Can't exactly come to Metropolis for every concert. But she has my support."
"So I guess I'll see you at my first concert?" Robin asked. "You will," promised Jason, "me, Barbara, and the rest of our mutual friends." Lynn smirked and explained to Robin, "since Jason's my boyfriend and Barbara's my friend, they get advanced tickets to see my concerts whenever they get the chance." Robin blushed, thinking about Barbara and he said in a shy tone, "it actually would be nice to see Babs at the concert..." Jason smirked, he knew what was going on. "So what's your favorite song of Lynn's playlist so far?" Jason asked, deciding to cut the toon some slack on his little crush on Barbara. "I'd have to say Harleen," replied Robin, "it really tells a story and it reminds me of Stan and Roxanne." Lynn smiled and said, "well I'm flattered, hun."
A couple hours later, Robin went back home to Barbara's apartments, where the two friends had dinner together. "So how was your first day of rehearsing with Lynn?" Barbara casually asked. "It was pretty good," said Robin, "I even got to meet Lynn's boyfriend." Babs smirked and asked in a joking manner, "he's quite the intimidating one isn't he?" Robin nodded and chuckled, "I'll say. Chris Hemsworth might have some competition in the sexy department. If my cousin Dot saw him, she'd be saying Hello Nurse to him." He and Barbara shared a laugh. "I remember meeting Jason when he was 2 inches taller than Lynn," said Babs, "he went through quite the late growth spurt." Robin chuckled, "I bet." As Robin ate his dinner, he casually decided to change the subject. "So what made you want to become a librarian?" Robin asked curiously.
"Well it wasn't exactly my first career option," explained Barbara. "Do tell," encouraged Robin. "Well, my father is the commissioner of the Gotham City Police Department," continued Barbara, "as a kid, I always admired my father because he risked his life as a cop everyday. He was my role model. I practically wanted to be a cop just like him. But, my dad didn't want me to become a cop because he believed it was too dangerous for me... So I decided to pursue a more alternate career. When I was starting high school, I became interested in journalism. I thought about being a reporter. I was even a reporter for my school's newspaper. I got the job at my local Gotham library as mostly a part-time job for after school. I always liked going there when I was a kid. But I soon realized I enjoyed working at the library and that part-time job wound up becoming a full-time job. It's not exactly the career I wanted, but I do enjoy my job." Robin smiled, admiring Barbara's optimism about her career path.
"So you've never considered going into professional journalism or any form of writing?" Robin asked. "I'm actually still open to it," replied Barbara, "In fact, given my experience with the police and also my experience with writing as a journalist, I've thought about writing novels about crime, whether it be fiction or nonfiction." Robin perked up and said, "I've actually thought about writing a whodunit murder mystery myself. I know it's probably strange coming from a toon whose main purpose is to make people laugh." Barbara looked at Robin intrigued and said, "I'd actually like to hear about this murder mystery. We ought to talk about it sometime." She smiled at him, a bit of a blush on her cheeks. Robin also blushed and said, "maybe when I'm not rocking out, I'd like that a lot."
