Chapter One: In Your Dreams

"Bye mum!" Lily Evans called out as she stepped onto the scarlet steam engine.

Her mother smiled and waved as the Hogwarts Express began to move forwards. Lily blew a kiss as her sister pouted and rolled her eyes.

"Just in time, eh Evans?" Someone snickered.

Lily turned from the window to see James Potter smirking at her. She hated the way he stood, with his arms crossed and that smug look on his face.

"Did you give mummy a kiss goodbye?"

"Shut up, James." She snapped and tried to walk past. He put an arm in front of her.

"Not so fast, Evans."

Lily grunted and shoved her way through, dragging her trunk along with her.

But James wasn't done with her.

"So, Evans, how about Hogsmeade next Saturday?"

"In your dreams." Lily rolled her eyes.

"C'mon, you know you want me. Everyone does." James said, catching up to her.

She turned to face him, hands on her hips. "Yes, James. I am madly in love with you and I wish you would stop flirting and snog me senseless already."

"I knew it!" He exclaimed, playing along with her.

Lily rolled her eyes and kept walking until she found a compartment with two other girls. James winked and then he was off to find the rest of his friends.

"How've you been?" Scarlett asked. She had been Lily's best friend from the moment the sorting hat had announced "Bransen, Scarlett" a Gryffindor and they had sat together for the start of term feast.

"Alright, but it hasn't even been a full day here yet and that slick git James Potter has already gotten on my nerves." Lily said, chuckling.

"Well Sirius has already been given detention, and he took James down with him." Scarlett answered, laughing.

"That makes me feel loads better," Lily replied, laughing harder.

The two were told to quiet down as the first years were brought in to be sorted.

The girls listened to the sorting hat's new song and Lily was hit with something small as "Sline, Jack" became a Slytherin. She looked down to find part of a chocolate frog stuck to the front of her robes.

She then looked down the table to see Sirius cracking up and James trying to hide his smile.

"Immature jerks." Lily muttered just loud enough for Scarlett to hear. She was sure they knew what she had said, though, as Sirius called her something his mother wouldn't approve of.
