Firey had been best friends with Flower for the past two years. He had grown increasingly close to Flower during that time, and he had become so comfortable around her that he was ready to expose one of his deepest secrets. He had developed a crush on Fries, his schoolmate and one of his other closest friends.
One day, Firey mustered up the courage to tell Flower about his feelings for Fries. He had been afraid of how Flower would react, but she offered him her unconditional support. “Firey, you can talk to him,” Flower said. “I can do it. Don’t be so scared.” With Flower’s reassurance, Firey felt a newfound strength.
Taking Flower’s advice, Firey ventured out alone to Fries’ house. His heart raced as he nervously approached the door and knocked. When Fries opened the door, Firey took a deep breath and blurted out his confession. “Fries,” he said, “we’ve been friends for two years now. Will you be my loving boyfriend?”
At first, Fries seemed stunned by Firey’s bold request. He remained silent, his expression unreadable. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity of suspense, Fries responded in a quiet voice, saying, “I’m sorry Firey, but I’m not gay.” Without another word, Fries closed the door in Firey’s face.
Firey was crushed, and he felt embarrassed and alone. He slowly made the walk home, trying to keep his tears at bay. When he finally reached his house, he collapsed in Flower’s embrace. Firey told her what had happened and how he wished things had gone differently. His eyes filled with tears as he tried to explain himself.
“It’s fine, Firey,” Flower said gently, stroking his hair. “I’m your bestie and I love you, no matter what.” As she looked into Firey’s eyes, both of them blushed. Maybe, just maybe, Flower was beginning to have feelings for Firey.
