"Hi I'm here for hair. Neal called me" she was unusually shy as she spoke, entering the room. She arrived at the venue dressed in her best casual outfit, feeling confident and ready to take on anything. As she entered the dimly lit backstage area, her gaze fell upon the most stunning woman she had ever laid eyes on - Beyoncé herself.
"Yes! Thank you for coming at such short notice" Beyoncé smiled looking at the woman's face. She had to be on stage later so this really was a lifesaver.
Nicki nodded and approached her carefully. But her words caught in her mouth being in Beyoncé's presence. Beyoncé was casual in just a white dressing gown, wearing no makeup yet, her face was clear and beautiful. Nicki couldn't help but feel her knees go weak at the sight of the diva standing before her. Her heart raced wildly, her breath caught in her throat, and she couldn't look away from those enchanting hazel eyes. She was a celebrity stylist so it's not that she was starstruck - though Beyoncé was a star even among other stars.
"Hi Nicki," Beyoncé greeted her with a warm smile. Nicki felt her palms grow clammy and fought hard to control her racing pulse. "We were really excited when your name came up. We've heard incredible things about your work," she continued in that warm southern accent.
"I can't thank you enough for giving me this opportunity, Mrs. Kno- Carter," Nicki stuttered, doing her best to appear composed. Interrupting Nickis thoughts, Beyoncé spoke to apologise for all the people in the room. She knew it could be overwhelming but Nicki simply shook her head. It was true that it was busy but she wasn't focused on anyone else. She was captivated by Beyoncé. The chemistry between them seemed almost palpable, the air charged with something more than a simple professional relationship. Yet, Nicki couldn't quite understand why she felt this way, since Beyoncé was someone she'd only admired from afar, never expecting to meet her personally, let alone work together.
Nicki disappeared to get the products from her car. In the time she spent gathering them, she tried seriously to pull herself together. Yes it was Beyoncé. Yes she was beautiful. She was there to do her hair and nothing else. Nicki looked at Beyoncé in the mirror, noticing the look of frustration on her face. People fussed around her, beginning her makeup, bringing her water. There were people all around her all doing various different jobs and Beyoncé seemed over it. She laughed to herself deciding to focus on her own job. Beyoncé already looked annoyed - any more annoyance and she might explode. She gathered up the hair noticing how beautiful Beyoncé looked in the mirror. She'd seen her before but up close she was stunning. They spoke shortly about what she wanted for her hair as Nicki looked at her hair and face in the mirror.
She grabbed her moisturiser trying to focus on Beyoncés hair, but it was hard not to get distracted as the woman kept bouncing her crossed legs. She was wearing only a white dressing gown which was loosely tied and her legs spilled out. Nicki found it sexy but her irritability was probably exhausting.
Stagehands and security all moved around the venue setting up for the show, while her personal security and assistants tried to talk to Beyoncé, asking her opinions on things like outfits and the set list. Beyoncé sat looking at her phone exasperated by the constant questions. Nicki bit her lip in the mirror, catching Beyoncé's eye. She didn't move her gaze however, and the two shared a silent moment.
