Harry tossed and turned as he drowned in his thick sheets and silk pillows, unable to fall asleep. He couldn't stop thinking about helping Malfoy after he was beaten up or the shared smile they'd had in potions two days ago. It was driving him crazy.

He sighed quietly and fished around for the marauder's map in his trunk.

Draco was heading out the Slytherin Dorm room and towards the great hall.

The Gryfindoor suddenly felt very nervous. Would Malfoy even want to see him? Was this stalking?

Potter replayed the smile once more in his head and decided it was worth being called creepy if he had the chance of seeing it again.

His bed creaked and shook as harry climbed out and there was a loud crash as he tripped over a forgotten shoe but the brunette didn't bother worrying as Ron was a deep sleeper.

Harry jumped down two steps at a time as he clutched the invisible cloak around him. He planned to head around the DADA classrooms and bump into Draco near the library. It would look more like an accident.

The Gryfindoor caught the front of his shoe on an uneven stone tile and swore as the invisibility cloak was trapped under his back foot and pulled off. He slipped and rolled before ending in a clump at the end of the corridor.

"Potter?" A surprised voice called into the darkness. Harry looked up, shock also evident on his face.

"Thank Salazar, it's you and not Filch," Malfoy sighed in relief as he stuck his head around the corner.

The Gryfindoor's cheeks burned a scarlet red and he couldn't help but feel grateful for the lack of light.

"Why were you running?" Malfoy asked as he walked closer to the brunette. Draco gave the boy his hand, pulling him up with a tight grip.

Harry stuttered pathetically as every thought fled his brain all at once.

"It's okay, Potter. I get it. You can have secrets, it's not illegal," Malfoy shrugged easily.

Harry blinked in surprise. Ron would pester him until he went crazy if the brunette looked the slightest bit suspicious and Hermione has a strange knack of knowing his secrets before he did. It felt good not to worry about lying or things he didn't even know.

Harry never would have guessed Malfoy had any better traits than his loyal friends.

"I can't believe you stood up to Snape like that," Potter said, breaking the short silence.

"And I can't believe you lied for me," Malfoy replied with a quick smile.

Harry immediately grinned back.

"Your friends must have given you a right bashing for that," the blonde added.

"Not really, Hermione thought it was smart actually,".

"Of course she did," Draco laughed, "She plays life like wizarding chess,".

"How's that?" Potter asked, trying his hardest not to sound dumb.

"She's always eight bloody steps ahead," Malfoy sighed and Harry wondered if that really annoyed him but chose to laugh instead, nodding his head in agreement.
