Chapter 24 : Whispers x Of x Lies

~~~
So this is how Gon feels when Hisoka gave him an unfairly hunt. My pride feels crumbling down. But it is something I can't fuss right now. Just like how Gon can't do anything about the similar situation either. Because this is a hunter exam, and rules must be followed no matter how much you hate it.
'That man. What's his deal?'  I knew from the very start that he wasn't the type to fight me seriously. But still... ugh!
Gittarackur. Whoever you are, we'll settle this soon.
Announcing the next match, I can't help but feel glum as I walk back to Kurapika. He has this dead worried written all over his face. I can feel that his worry over my bleeding hand is greater than his opponent. I sighed in distress.
"Chizumi..."
I gave him a reassuring smile. "I'll be fine."
I noticed him pursed his lips. "Don't worry about Hisoka, he won't get me I promise."
My lips parted agape once he left towards Hisoka on the center floor. He must've noticed the grim expression in my eyes.
I fisted my bleeding hand as some of my hair covered my darkened eyes. I know it wasn't because Kurapika won't stand a chance to Hisoka as much as any of us do, but the uneasy feeling of that pedo might slip a tongue about a thing between me and the spiders keeps eating me inside.
I don't know what's in Hisoka's mind. He might act all buddy and sometimes helpful, but I can't fully trust his acts. Danger is always in his shadows.
"Chizumi, if you want to watch Kurapika's match, I can treat your hand here," Leorio snapped me back to reality that I keep on staining the white tiles with drops of my blood.
"O-okay,"
We sat at the corner when the match finally started. Leorio's busy tending into my wounded hand while my eyes are glued to the fight. Kurapika is all fired up as he carefully match Hisoka with his twin wooden swords, while Hisoka on the other hand, seems to be just enjoying messing with Kurapika. He's always too confident that it makes me want to crush his smirking face. Kurapika must be feeling the same way too.
I didn't noticed that my hand is already bandaged up as I turned to Leorio and uttered a thanks. I was too occupied with all these moments of calming myself down whenever Kurapika is taking a hit from Hisoka. I bit my nails as I gulped, fighting my negativity and cheered on Kurapika silently.
'You can do this, Kurapika. Let's all get our license this year.'
I was just feeling lighter, yet it seems like my demons got me again. Chills tingled all over me when suddenly, Hisoka leaned closely enough for Kurapika to hear anything he has to say.
My breath seems like stucked in my throat when Hisoka pierced his menacing eyes sideways towards mine. Kurapika's frozen figure as if he heard something shocking got me trembling.
Hisoka must've said something. And I'm so afraid it was about me.
Kurapika walked back to us after Hisoka surrendered. The similar scenario happened to me earlier repeated again like a deja vu. Yet the only difference is that Kurapika walked out of the platform so calm like there's a storm to be followed. He seems too interested with something he learned from Hisoka that his pride became nothing.
The fear is slowly eating me up inside to even understand what's happening. My stomach is swirling so much that I felt like throwing up, especially when Kurapika's mysteriously dark eyes landed on mine.
